District Executive
A Career with Purpose
As a District Executive, you will be an important part of a character-building program that has been serving youth for 115 years. Scouting uses outdoors, advancement, leadership training, and fun activities to prepare tomorrow’s leaders. You will be responsible for growing and ensuring the quality of Scouting in the South Hampton Roads Virginia area.
Flexible Work Environment
This position is a hybrid remote/in-person, including some night and weekend hours. You will be in the field, working with a diverse group of people in the community. Enjoy paid time off, holidays, 12 vacation days, and performance-based additional time off. You will be evaluated by accomplishments and goals reached, not time spent in a cubicle.
A Sense of Community
Your success comes from building relationships in the community, the volunteer Scouting family, and your fellow staff members, working together on shared goals. District Executives learn from and utilize high-level, mission-focused volunteers to build Scouting.
Ability to Make an Impact
As a District Executive, you will be responsible for the operation and growth of local Scouting.
- Maintain and grow membership in the assigned district.
- Reach fundraising goals to provide financial support for local Scouting.
- Recruit volunteers to support and provide Scouting programs.
- Attend weekly and monthly Scout events to connect with the local Scouting community.
- Connect with local schools, churches, and community organizations to start new Scout units.
- Provide assistance and best practices to support growth in established charters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently

You will be a member of a small local team, with all the advantages of working in tandem with a large national organization. Professional development training is provided, and career advancement is available both locally and nationally. The starting pay is $48,000 per year with performance-based incentives and merit increases.
