Full Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work one-on-one with patients and providers Greet patients, verify identity and patient information, obtain vitals and medical history Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing all required testing including but not limited to phlebotomy, immunizations, EKGs, drug screens, fit testing, spirometry, vision etc. Provide assistance to providers during examinations and treatment Perform occupational medicine specialty services in clinic and off site Enforce occupational medicine regulations and standards. Wound care, splinting, apply DME Use of electronic medical record Reinforce discharge and follow up instructions Follow a standard medical clinic heirarchy and medical orders Must maintain clinical skills and certifications Must demonstrate responsibility in patient care Accurately document services in medical records Some front office duties as you will be cross trained to complete and front office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check in/out, communication of wait times, reporting etc.

Clinical Skills: Performs general clinical duties to include, but not limited to:

Taking vital signs Rooming Brief medical history Daily use of EMR, Microsoft Outlook, Sharepoint, and other software programs Medical history including date of injury, mechanism, medications, surgeries Injections under provider supervision Triage, notify providers and managers of abnormalities problems Anticipate provider needs in clinical setting Venipuncture and phlebotomy including tube preparation for lab Occupational Medicine Testing to include urine, hair, and oral drug screens, breath alcohol tests, fit testing, various physicals, spirometry, and audiometry Complete all forms related to occupational health and work related injuries Vision testing like Snellen Eye Chart, Ishihara, Jaegar Immunization IM or SQ injections CLIA Waived Lab Testing Orthopedic Splinting Bandaging Procedure set up Chaperone (as needed) during procedures/exams Calling 911 and transfer process Hazardous Waste Disposal Exam Room Turnover EKG Ear Lavage.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent Certified Medical Assistant helpful but not required or EMT or military medical specialist with current credentials in the state of employment Will consider ED Technicians, LPN, nurses aid, EMT, or corpsman Up to date BLS certification DOT breath alcohol and urine drug screen certifications are preferable. Ability to physically and emotionally work effectively with team in a dynamic, clinical office environment. This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management High level of accuracy is also expected in the selection of clinical services and documentation.
