Full Job Description

Naval Architect / Structural Engineer

Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is looking for a Naval Architect/Structural Engineer to join our team in Norfolk, VA. As a Naval Architect/Structural Engineer you will provide technical assistance to Ships Force and/or involved Navy Technical Activities related to ship and dock conditions.

Contract Requirements:

Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Provide technical assistance, assessment, and corrective actions as tasked.
Conduct inspections and/or assessments of current ship condition and evaluate the findings of the inspections and/or assessments to determine a way forward to correct the current situation.
Answer Engineering Service Requests (ESR) and Departures from Specification (Client) when applicable.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

BS in Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school
Experience in the assessment, repair, and maintenance of structure on US Naval ships. Minimum of two (2) years specialized hands-on experience working and inspecting ship structures, material, knowledge of welding and preservation systems.
Have knowledge about structure, preservation, insulation, piping and welding on Navy Ships.
Hands-on experience with this equipment within the last two (2) years.

Physical Demands and Expectations:

Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.
Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment
Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance.
Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
