Desktop Support Technician
JOB SUMMARY
This position assists staff at Altura Centers for Health and remote sites with technical support of desktop computers, applications and related technology. Support includes specifications, installation and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines. The Desktop Support Technician will assist in managing the office bench area for system repairs.
This individual should be familiar with hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, system reloads desktop security practices. This position also assists in the maintenance and testing of network servers and associated equipment. The position’s responsibilities require independent analysis, communication and problem solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist staff with the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software.
- Troubleshoots, resolves and replaces faulty hardware components.
- Maintains contact with users until issues are resolved.
- Maintains workstation images and maintenance schedules
- Support of clinical devices including but not limited to – x-ray, ekg, and spirometer devices
- Setup of A/V (conferencing) equipment for meetings and functions as requested
- Assists as project resource for organizational initiatives and special projects.
- Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers and administrative systems.
- Trains and orients staff on use of hardware or software.
- Assesses functional needs to determine specifications for purchases
- Works with vendors and departmental staff to resolve technical problems
- Refers major technical problems to supervisor for corrective direction
- Other technical duties as assigned
Education and Certifications
- Two Year Technical Degree (Recommended)
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+ Certifications (Recommended)
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience working in the framework of an IT help desk operation.
- Experience in problem analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux/OSX and Mobile Devices
- Knowledge of Internet, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word
