Imaging Aide - Per Diem - CT Dept
Shift: Variable, 8 hour shifts
Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Imaging and Physical Therapy, Imaging Director, or their designee, the Imaging Aide will provide basic clinical and non-clinical support to the MRI staff. Primary duties consist of patient transport to and from specified areas in radiology (i.e.: CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine), interaction with patients following AIDET guidelines, assisting technologists with patient care duties and use of Meditech system. May be assigned to work in multiple Imaging Modalities and accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary in a flexible and positive manner. Adherence to radiation safety principals as well as MRI safety training is required. Their primary expanded role is to augment, assist, and support the delivery of patient care in the MRI Department and is demonstrated and evidenced by the successful completion of MRI Department didactic and clinical mentorship. Must follow AIDET and accept reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a High school diploma or equivalent. A background in pre-hospital setting is preferred. Current BLS certification required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Effective oral and written communications are required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be a Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT I certification, Medical Assistant certification, or other equivalent medical certification preferred.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Indicates Essential Function
1 * Accurately documents patient’s care and activities during the patient’s Radiology Department visit as needed.
2 * Transports patient during visit, for procedures in Radiology, C.T., M.R.I., and U.S. Using the appropriate mode as indicated and/or directed by supervising personnel. Applies oxygen to patient as per policy and protocols. Ensures patient safety at all times during transport. Provides for patient privacy and comfort during transport. Keeps patient informed. Ensures safety of patient’s belongings.
3 Provides emotional and physical comfort to patient while providing a safe environment for patient and their family members.
4 Prepares patient for exams as needed. Including oral prep delivery, patient questionnaire, screening and other required forms. Obtains patient history and answers basic questions or refers to the appropriate licensed staff.
5 * Ensures appropriate patient identification, follows steps to guarantee appropriate patient identification for tests, treatments, and procedures.
6 Assists patient with personal hygiene, i.e. bedpan/urinal, changing of clothing and linen, as necessary, oral care, and provides blankets and pillows, when appropriate.
7 Uses communication techniques and equipment that are size and age appropriate for the developmental level of patient and parents as applicable.
8 Recognizes, and helps, when coworkers need assistance and requests assistance when necessary.
9 Helps with keeping work area clean and neat, with items being placed in their designated locations.
10 Incorporates Infection Control principles into practice. Wears personal protective equipment and follows CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of infection. Demonstrates knowledge of isolation categories and the guidelines for each category.
11 Utilizes the appropriate communication tools, i.e. Radiology Communication Board to communicate pertinent and specific information to members of the health care team. Keeps patient record and information confidential at all times.
12 Accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.
13 Adherence to radiation safety principals as well as MRI safety training is required.
