Caregiver – Assisted Living & Memory Care

Village at Mill Creek is hiring a part-time Caregiver for our Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Visalia, CA.

We are looking for someone dependable, patient, and steady under pressure. This role assists residents with daily care, mobility, meals, safety, and engagement while helping them maintain dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

Pay: $17.00–$17.50 per hour

What You’ll Do:

As a Caregiver, you will assist residents with routine daily care based on their care profile/service plan and direction from community leadership.

Responsibilities include:

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, and personal hygiene.
Support safe mobility, including transfers, ambulation, wheelchair use, and positioning.
Escort residents to meals, assist with feeding when needed, and encourage hydration and nutrition.
Help maintain clean, comfortable resident rooms by making beds, tidying care areas, and assisting with resident laundry as assigned.
Support recreational, social, and engagement activities.
Use calm communication, reassurance, and redirection when supporting residents with dementia or cognitive changes.
Observe and report changes in mood, behavior, appetite, mobility, cognition, or overall condition.
Follow resident care plans and report concerns to the Wellness Director, Memory Care Director, shift supervisor, or designee.
Follow infection control, fall prevention, elopement prevention, emergency, and safety procedures.
Communicate professionally with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, and tour guests.
Work cooperatively with caregivers, med techs, and other departments to provide consistent resident care.

What We’re Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Patience and calmness when working with older adults, including residents with dementia.
Dependability, good judgment, and a team-focused attitude.
Ability to work independently once trained while keeping resident safety as the top priority.

Preferred Experience

One year of experience in assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home health, or another healthcare setting.
Experience as a Caregiver, CNA, HHA, Personal Care Assistant, or similar direct-care role.
CNA or HHA certification preferred, but not required unless applicable to the position.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. Caregivers must be able to assist residents with activities of daily living, push wheelchairs, assist with transfers, and respond safely to resident needs, alarms, and emergency situations.

Work Environment

This role is performed in assisted living and memory care settings. Caregivers will have frequent interaction with older adults, including residents with dementia and other cognitive impairments. Memory care work may occur in a secured area with a high level of resident interaction.
