About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on Commercial Security Integration Technician with deep expertise in enterprise IP video surveillance, commercial access control, structured cabling, and wireless RF networking.
In this role, you will be responsible for field deployment, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning complex physical security systems across commercial, industrial, and municipal job sites. You will bridge physical field labor with network configuration, ensuring camera systems and point-to-point wireless links communicate reliably back to central servers and VMS platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Installation & Mounting: Install, aim, focus, and service enterprise-grade IP cameras (PTZ, multi-sensor, fisheye, fixed dome) on interior structures, building exteriors, parapets, and utility/surveillance poles.
- RF & Wireless Infrastructure: Align, mount, program, and commission point-to-point (PtP) and point-to-multipoint (PtMP) wireless radio bridges (Ubiquiti, Cambium, Siklu, or similar) to extend network connectivity across remote or off-grid sites.
- Structured Cabling & Pathways: Pull, dress, terminate, test, and label Cat6/Cat6A, fiber optics, and low-voltage control wire. Install conduit, EMT, J-hooks, weather-sealed enclosures (NEMA boxes), and mast mounts.
- Network & VMS Programming: Assign static IPs, configure subnets, establish VLAN routing, adjust bitrates/codecs (H.264/H.265), and enroll devices into commercial Video Management Software (Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, ExacqVision, or equivalent).
- Power Systems: Deploy and troubleshoot Power-over-Ethernet (PoE/PoE+/PoE++ midspans and switches), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and low-voltage DC power distributions. Experience with remote off-grid solar power enclosures is a strong plus.
- Diagnostics & Field Commissioning: Utilize network analyzers, cable testers, multimeter tools, and spectrum analyzers to troubleshoot packet loss, RF interference, ground loops, and hardware faults.
- Documentation & Handoff: Complete accurate field service tickets, site closeout photos, as-built network maps, and customer training sign-offs.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of direct field experience installing and commissioning commercial security cameras, IP networks, and wireless bridges.
- Networking Proficiency: Solid grasp of IPv4 networking, subnetting, DHCP reservations, port forwarding, DNS, and managed switch configuration.
- RF Systems: Proven track record deploying and aligning line-of-sight (LOS) microwave/RF wireless links for video transmission.
- Physical Capability & Safety: Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and scissor/boom lifts at heights up to 40+ feet. Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Tools & Craftsmanship: Strong knowledge of standard hand/power tools, crimpers, tone-and-probe kits, and low-voltage industry safety standards (OSHA).
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background screening and drug test for site access.
Preferred Certifications & Skills
- Manufacturer certifications in leading VMS/camera platforms (e.g., Axis Certified Professional, Milestone MCDE/MCIT, Hanwha, Avigilon).
- Networking certifications (CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or vendor-specific wireless certifications like Ubiquiti UEWA/UBWA).
