Bulldog Battery Corporation (Bulldog) is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company that manufactures and distributes industrial batteries used in forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, locomotive diesel starting, explosion-proof batteries, and more. Our employee-owners take pride in building the highest quality reputation in the industry. Each battery that leaves our 187,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facilities undergo extensive testing, including full discharge and equalization.
We pride ourselves on our rapid order delivery. While the world struggles with supply-chain shortages and delays, Bulldog Battery has integrated each step of the manufacturing process in-house. Competitor lead times are backlogged more than 12 weeks, whereas we typically ship within two and strive for a one-week ship date. We lead the way when it comes to industrial batteries.
No office visits or phone calls please. Only those candidates under consideration will be contacted.
We are committed to building a reliable, long-term team of employee-owners. As part of that commitment:
- Applicants must have demonstrated job stability, including a minimum of 6 months with their most recent employer, to be considered for this position.
- Full applications with complete and accurate work history are required. Incomplete applications or those with unclear employment timelines will not be considered.
Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented, safety-focused Production Worker whose primary responsibility is operating our laser cutting table and brake press to fabricate steel components, including battery trays, racks, and related parts. This is a hands-on fabrication role where precision matters: the parts you cut and form go directly into products our customers depend on every day.
While metal fabrication is the core of this position, Bulldog is a small, flexible manufacturing team. You may be assigned to other production areas based on workload and business needs, and cross-training is expected. The right candidate sees that variety as a plus.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the CNC laser cutting table: load programs, position and secure material, verify cut quality, and unload finished parts
- Set up and operate the brake press: select and install tooling, verify bend sequences and dimensions, and form parts to print
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and shop drawings; verify dimensions and tolerances using tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges
- Perform first-piece and in-process quality checks; identify and flag defects, dimensional issues, or material problems before they move downstream
- Maintain accurate production records, part counts, and material usage documentation
- Perform routine operator-level maintenance and cleaning on equipment; report abnormal conditions, unusual noises, or damage immediately
- Handle raw steel stock and finished parts safely, including use of material handling equipment
- Support other production areas as assigned, including assembly, material handling, and general plant operations
- Maintain a clean, organized work area consistent with 5S and housekeeping standards
Safety Expectations
Safety is a condition of employment at Bulldog Battery, not a suggestion. This position requires:
- Consistent, correct use of required PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed footwear, and task-specific PPE)
- Strict adherence to machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and all written safety procedures
- Awareness of laser and pinch-point hazards specific to the laser table and brake press, and refusal to bypass safeguards under any circumstance
- Compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, including those associated with working in a lead-acid battery manufacturing facility
- Active participation in safety training, and prompt reporting of near-misses, hazards, and incidents
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to understand and utilize electrical drawings, schematics, prints, documents, and manuals.
- Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems up to 480V three-phase; PLC and VFD troubleshooting experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of lockout/tagout and general industrial safety practices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
- Desire to work in a team-based environment.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to doing the job right the first time
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16" and perform basic shop math (fractions, decimals, unit conversion)
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Willingness to cross-train and move between work areas as needed
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work with minimal supervision once trained
Preferred:
- Experience operating a CNC laser table, plasma table, brake press, or similar fabrication equipment
- Experience reading blueprints and shop drawings
- Prior manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or machine shop experience
- Forklift experience or certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and stand/walk for a full shift
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling of steel stock and parts
- Ability to wear all required PPE for the duration of the shift
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
Wages and Benefits
- Pay based on skills and experience, plus overtime opportunities.
