This opening for this position is for Full-Time employment and pay will begin at a salary of $35-42K, including healthcare and other Benefits. After an initial 90 day period, employee will be eligible for merit based increases, promotions, and bonuses, as long-term employee growth is important to us.
Job Description
The Associate Manager / Sous Chef is responsible for leading and directing their restaurant toward achieving the overall strategic goals set by our company, as well as lead with GM or Head Chef. The AM/Sous Chef is also responsible for developing the people in his/her restaurant to maintain profitability, providing fast and friendly service while supporting our company values and standards. This person must be a people person first and foremost while industrious & organized to meet the demands of the culinary and service industry.
Associate Manager, Restaurant Tasks
- Develop operational, marketing, and business plans in conjunction with GM, owners, or the rest of the Anthem MGMT Team.
- Estimate food and supply needs, oversee the placement of orders.
- Keen nature toward the role of excellence within the kitchen, or a leader/trainer as a cook themselves.
- Help hire, train, and supervise managers and staff.
- Manage the budget, administer payroll, and make sure operations remain within budget.
- Establish and enforce standards and regulations for personnel, administration, entertainment, and food.
- Be able to operate as effectively as the GM, alongside the GM, and in times of the GM’s absence or days off function as the point-lead “GM.”
- Hand's-On cooking and chef responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Must be a leader with the ability to learn, listen and communicate well with others.
- Demonstrate and ensure operational excellence through the training, coaching, disciplining, and encouragement of area staff members and managers.
- Contributes to the planning and participates fully in business meetings as required.
- Ensures their restaurant is compliant with all inspections and expectations and that Anthem & industry standards are upheld
- Monitors sales, labor and other areas effecting both customer service and profitability then working with restaurants on any operational opportunities identified.
- Hand's-On cooking and chef responsibilities for al dining, catering demands.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Experience: (Minimum experience the job requires.)
- Minimum 5 years experience leading others at various organizational levels.
- Thorough experience in the food service industry.
- Manager position or mgmt-type experience in the food service industry.
Knowledge: (Level of knowledge required to perform the job effectively.)
- Aptitude for restaurant operating, back and front of house, and point of sale systems.
- Strong general knowledge of the organization and its functions.
- Strong general knowledge of working practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Intermediate to advanced ability to delegate projects and get work done through others.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of performance review process.
- Ability to prepare and present ideas and recommendations to colleagues, managers, and direct reports with ample notice and preparation.
- Demonstrate advanced ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate decisions while motivating assigned staff.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient understanding of the various job functions within the restaurant to effectively train staff and delegate certain tasks.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment.
Education: (Minimum formal education the job requires.)
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
- Specialized culinary training or degrees.
Physical: (Minimum physical requirement to perform the job effectively.)
- Must be able to manually lift and move up to 70 lbs. on occasion.
- Must have the ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, and push occasionally.
- Ability to read (orders on tickets, menu board, receipts, etc.).
- Contact/immersion of hands in water, cleaning and sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, and produce items, on occasion.
- Frequent washing of hands.
- Ability to use computers, telephones, and office equipment.
Other
- Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs.
- Must be able to work a full-time schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per work week.
- Must be able to support restaurants that are open any hour of the day (though not 24 hrs), 7 days a week.
- Working conditions exist to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities.
