Position Overview
As a Senior Estimator, you will lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for complex data center and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project opportunities, identifying project risks, supporting procurement strategies, and collaborating with operational teams to develop competitive execution plans. This role serves as a critical link between business development, engineering, operations, procurement, and project management teams. You will support project pursuits from early conceptual budgeting through final proposal submission while helping establish estimating strategies, improve estimating processes, and strengthen organizational knowledge. Success requires strong construction knowledge, financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate complex project requirements while balancing risk, schedule, constructability, and market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead estimating and preconstruction efforts for mission-critical and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Develop detailed conceptual, design-build, EPC, and hard-bid estimates throughout various stages of project development.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, geotechnical information, schedules, and other project documentation to support estimate development.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, procurement, and project management teams to develop comprehensive execution strategies.
- Identify project risks, constructability concerns, labor challenges, material impacts, and market conditions that affect project costs.
- Support proposal preparation, bid reviews, value engineering efforts, and client presentations.
What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed cost estimates supporting hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, procurement teams, subcontractors, and business development professionals throughout project pursuits.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, subcontractor evaluations, pricing analyses, and cost model development.
- Evaluate labor productivity assumptions, equipment requirements, means and methods, and execution strategies.
- Lead estimate reviews, bid strategy meetings, risk assessments, and proposal development activities.
- Provide cost guidance and preconstruction support from project pursuit through project turnover.

What It Takes
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline and 7+ years of estimating, preconstruction, project management, engineering, or construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience preparing estimates for mission-critical, data center, industrial, EPC, heavy civil, power, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, labor productivity, scheduling concepts, equipment utilization, procurement strategies, and project delivery methodologies.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, geotechnical reports, and technical documentation.
- Experience developing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, bid proposals, value engineering solutions, and risk assessments.
- Experience soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Proficiency with estimating software, quantity takeoff platforms, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with HeavyBid, InEight Estimate, DESTINI, HCSS, Sage Estimating, or similar estimating platforms is preferred.
- Experience supporting design-build, EPC, or alternative delivery projects is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, presentation, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 25% to support site visits, estimate reviews, customer meetings, and preconstruction activities.
