Full Job Description

Primary Purpose: Assists the school principal in the provision of direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational activities within an assigned school. Plays an integral role in the establishment and maintenance of a school climate that is conducive to learning, including overseeing the enforcement of school rules and regulations, and the implementation of disciplinary measures. Oversee campus operations in the principal's absence.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of teaching experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
Campus leadership experience preferred.
Active teaching certificate required.

Clear and effective communication skills for diverse audiences including students, staff and families
Well-organized, ability to balance competing priorities and multi-task
Passion for developing staff’s instructional toolbox and staff and student leadership capacities

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Strong School Leadership and Planning

Supervises professional staff and teaching assistants
In collaboration with the principal, creates a high-performing, skilled leadership team
Ensure campus-wide monitoring of multiple forms of student data to inform instructional and intervention decisions to maximize student achievement for both mainstream and special student populations
Productively manages and supports change processes
Strategically supports focused planning processes with strategic monitoring of outcomes
Focuses calendars and time to address principal, leadership, and instructional priorities
Coordinates with appropriate staff to ensure a clean, safe, and secure campus
Manage, train, and maintain documentation for emergency response and school safety, including drills, safety committee meetings, staff development, and general campus security.
Manage staff leave and coverage
Ensure adherence to campus budget management, purchasing, and inventory

Effective Well-Supported Teachers

Assists the campus principal in routinely implementing targeted and personalized strategies to induct, support, grow, and retain effective educators
Conducts rigorous, calibrated, and supported observations
Supports the campus principal to personalize and align professional development
Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom management

Positive School Culture

Collaborates to establish clear expectations driven by data and proactive systems for behaviors, including social and emotional supports
Aligns the vision, mission, and goals to a safe environment and high expectations
Act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student handbook.
Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Manage attendance records including watch-list communication with parents, students, and administration
Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
Manages school organizations.
Provides administrative level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and community programs.
Productively involves and coordinates family and community involvement
Assists principal in implementation of strategies to proactively provide and coordinate student support services

High Quality Curriculum and Effective Instruction

Supports the campus principal in ensuring fidelity of implementation with state and district curricula and assessments

Actively supports the development of effective routines, instructional strategies, and experiences for all students
Collaboratively monitors multiple forms of data to guide instructional decisions and performance
Supports implementation of high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum

Other Duties

Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for school principals, including current professional standards of competence and practice
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local and board policies and procedures. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
Be the Administrator on Duty as needed for Athletic/Academic/Social events as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned
