Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk professional to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical administrative procedures. As a Medical Front Desk specialist, you will manage patient intake, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records management while ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies and delivering exceptional patient service. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-organized clinical environment that prioritizes patient care and operational efficiency.

Duties

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing professional and courteous front desk support.
Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Athenahealth.
Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle billing inquiries related to medical collections and claims.
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Review and update medical records, ensuring proper documentation review and accurate data entry in EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and coding procedures including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD-10 coding standards.
Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, providing clear communication regarding appointments or patient inquiries.
Maintain organized filing of medical records, documentation review, and health information management tasks.
Support office management duties such as inventory control of office supplies and managing electronic health records (EHR) management tools like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment with strong clerical skills.
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of medical billing processes including insurance verification and Medicare procedures.
Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and health insurance policies.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication tasks.
Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Experience with dental terminology and dental office systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting while maintaining attention to detail.
