Lochridge-Priest is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented HR & Payroll Assistant to join our Human Resources team. This position plays an integral role in supporting Human Resources and Payroll operations across multiple companies by assisting with recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, payroll processing, and certified payroll reporting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Human Resources

Assist with the administration and coordination of all Human Resources functions.
Support recruiting efforts by assisting with job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and hiring processes.
Coordinate onboarding activities including new hire paperwork, I-9 compliance, E-Verify, orientation scheduling, and personnel file setup.
Assist with employee benefits administration including enrollments, qualifying life events, claims assistance, and employee communications.
Maintain employee records while ensuring complete accuracy, organization, confidentiality, and compliance.
Assist with HR reporting, audits, compliance initiatives, and special projects.
Recommend process improvements while administering Human Resources plans, policies, and procedures.
Support employee engagement initiatives, company events, recognition programs, and internal communications.
Provide exceptional customer service to employees while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Payroll & Certified Payroll

Assist in processing weekly and semi-monthly payroll.
Review employee timecards for completeness and accuracy.
Coordinate with payroll, absence recording, holiday, and timekeeping systems.
Assist with preparing and submitting certified payroll reports for prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon projects.
Verify employee classifications, wage rates, fringe benefits, and project assignments for certified payroll compliance.
Maintain certified payroll records and supporting documentation for audits and project compliance.
Work closely with Payroll, Accounting, and Project Managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Assist in researching and resolving payroll discrepancies.

Administrative Support

Perform administrative tasks utilizing spreadsheets, databases, reports, and HR/payroll software.
Provide departmental support by organizing, maintaining, and closing out projects accurately and on time.
Establish, organize, and supervise department records while maintaining confidentiality.
Provide administrative and operational support by managing the flow of information between departments.
Prepare reports, presentations, agendas, correspondence, and internal communications.
Understand departmental goals and proactively support business objectives.
Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence professionally while building positive relationships with employees, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and business partners.
Work with sensitive and proprietary information using the highest level of discretion.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of Human Resources, Payroll, Administrative, or Office experience preferred.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Construction industry experience is a plus.
Experience with certified payroll or prevailing wage reporting is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Excellent proofreading, writing, and editing skills.
Strong business communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
