Full Job Description

Your future role at a glance:

Location: Waco, TX

Facility: Ascension Providence

Department/Speciality: Surgical Services

Schedule: Evening Shift l Full Time | 3 X 12 hour shift | 10:30am-11:00pm | weekday schedule with on call requirements

How you'll make an impact in this role:

Provide dedicated, hands-on assistance to attending surgeons throughout complex procedures to ensure optimal intraoperative workflow and patient outcomes.
Utilize specialized positioning and stabilizing equipment to maximize surgical site exposure while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and anatomical alignment.
Maintain superior surgical field visibility through precise tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning, sponging, and continuous irrigation.
Apply targeted surgical techniques to manage active bleeding, successfully achieving both temporary and permanent hemostasis.
Assist with multi-layer tissue plane closure, apply sterile surgical dressings, and securely place drainage systems.
Oversee pre-procedure operating room prep using surgeon preference cards, while streamlining post-case cleanup, cart removal, and rapid room turnover.

What minimum qualifications you'll need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Certified Assistant Surgical Assistant specializing in Surgery credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required.

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
