Full Job Description

Fechko Excavating is a commercial excavating and professional surveying company specializing in mass earthwork and the installation of water lines, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers for municipalities, commercial developments, and residential subdivisions. Since its inception in 1988, Fechko Excavating has consistently challenged industry best practices and pursued innovative approaches to deliver high-quality results for its clients. The motivation behind continual growth from a three-man family business to today an operation employing a leadership staff & workforce of over 100 local men and women is simple - the desire to provide value added services and streamline the construction process for our clients drives the process.

With those values in mind, together we continue to grow a reputation that is paramount. Headquartered in Medina County, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team of high performers.

What You’ll Do:

· Utilize a thorough understanding of project scope to evaluate bid specifications and prepare accurate, competitive bid packages.

· Perform detailed take-offs, aggressively soliciting subcontractor and supplier pricing, and estimating labor costs.

· Collaborate closely with field supervisors to support projects from bid award through successful completion.

· Manage specification and bid document compliance, contract negotiation and administration, project budgets, resource scheduling, change orders, and issue resolution.

What You’ll Need:

· Experience with sewer and water main installation, mass earthwork, stabilization, paving, and similar scopes of work.

· Working knowledge of the full bidding process, including take-offs, material and subcontractor pricing, labor estimating, and bid preparation.

· Proven experience working with both public and private entities, including ODOT projects.

· Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, resolve complex issues, and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships.

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively discuss project status, schedules, billing inquiries, and unforeseen issues with clients.

· Experience performing project closeout reviews, including cost analysis and profitability assessment.

· Strong organizational, documentation, computer, and communication skills.

· General office knowledge with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Degree in Engineering or Construction and/or significant practical field experience (10+ years preferred).
