Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as the senior operational leader for the manufacturing facility, providing leadership, direction, and accountability across Production, Prepress, Facilities, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Shipping operations.

Partner with the General Manager to translate business objectives into operational plans and successfully execute initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.

Direct day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production capacity, staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resources are aligned to meet customer demand and business priorities.

Establish, monitor, and continuously improve key operational performance metrics, including safety, quality, productivity, labor efficiency, equipment utilization, inventory performance, operating costs, and on-time delivery, using data to drive informed decision-making and measurable business results.

Ensure manufacturing operations consistently deliver high-quality products while meeting company commitments for on-time delivery, customer experience, and service excellence.

Lead, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and department leaders while building a high-performing organization through effective hiring, training, and performance management

Build organizational capability by identifying, mentoring, and developing future leaders while strengthening the management team and supporting long-term succession planning.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational processes, quality systems, policies, and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency, consistency, scalability, and customer satisfaction while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Ensure operational readiness by proactively managing labor capacity, workforce capabilities, equipment availability, facility infrastructure, production resources, and contingency planning to support changing business needs and seasonal demand.

Lead the planning and management of departmental operating and capital budgets in partnership with the General Manager and Finance, ensuring resources are effectively allocated while identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and maximize return on investment.

Lead facility operations, including building maintenance, grounds, production equipment, HVAC systems, preventive maintenance programs, capital improvements, and long-term equipment lifecycle planning to maximize operational reliability.

Oversee the evaluation, acquisition, installation, maintenance, and deployment of manufacturing equipment and facility improvements that support current and future operational requirements.

Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, OSHA, and regulatory requirements, including accident investigations, hazardous material management, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration, and corrective action programs.

Provide leadership for equipment reliability, maintenance planning, and technical problem solving to minimize downtime and ensure efficient manufacturing operations.

Oversee procurement, inventory management, and supply chain operations to ensure materials, production supplies, and outsourced services are available to support manufacturing while optimizing inventory investment, cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, and service providers, partnering with Merchandising, Finance, and other stakeholders to improve quality, innovation, service, delivery performance, and overall cost competitiveness.

Collaborate with leaders across the organization to coordinate operational priorities, resolve cross-functional challenges, and successfully implement strategic business initiatives.

Prepare and communicate operational performance reports, forecasts, recommendations, and continuous improvement plans to the General Manager and executive leadership.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Industrial Technology, or another relevant discipline preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, professional experience, military service, and demonstrated leadership experience will be considered.

Progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, distribution, logistics, supply chain, or another operationally intensive environment with increasing responsibility and demonstrated success leading people and improving business performance.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, solve complex operational problems, make sound business decisions, and successfully manage competing priorities.
-
Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
-
Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance applicable to operational environments.

Experience leading manufacturing, production, distribution, logistics, supply chain, fulfillment, or other operationally intensive environments.

Experience overseeing multiple operational functions, such as production, prepress, facilities, maintenance, procurement, inventory management, supply chain, shipping, or quality.

Experience leading managers, supervisors, or other people leaders while developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
-
Experience managing operating budgets, capital expenditures, workforce planning, and operational improvement initiatives.
-
Experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, or similar process improvement disciplines.

Experience using operational metrics, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making to improve business performance.

Experience evaluating, implementing, or optimizing manufacturing equipment, automation, technology, or capital improvement projects.
-
Experience working with suppliers, outsourced manufacturing partners, or strategic vendors to improve quality, cost, service, and delivery.
-
Experience working in custom manufacturing, printing, promotional products, apparel decoration, e-commerce fulfillment, or other high-mix, fast-paced operational environments.

Experience leading organizations through periods of growth, organizational change, seasonal demand, or rapidly changing business priorities.

Experience using ERP, production planning, warehouse management, inventory, or other enterprise business systems.
-
Professional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, APICS/ASCM, PMP, or similar operational excellence credentials are a plus.

MBA or other advanced degrees are a plus.
