Location: Lincoln, MA / Hanscom Air Force Base
Work Arrangement: Onsite / In-Office with limited remote flexibility
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience, technical depth, and clearance status
Experience Level: Intermediate to Senior-Level, approximately 2–10 years of relevant experience
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizen required
Security Clearance: Current TS/SCI strongly preferred. Candidates with an active Top Secret clearance may be considered only if they are clearly eligible and able to obtain SCI access.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking Systems Engineers and Senior Systems Engineers to support mission-focused modeling, systems engineering, digital engineering, and analysis efforts for national defense customers.
This role is designed for candidates who have built a strong technical foundation and are ready to grow within a high-impact modeling and systems engineering environment. The team is not seeking long-tenured career veterans for this opening; the ideal candidate will bring approximately 2–10 years of experience and the ability to contribute hands-on while continuing to develop deeper expertise in MBSE, mission engineering, architecture, modeling, analysis, and systems-of-systems design.
The work will support complex defense and Air Force mission environments where systems engineering, data, modeling, architecture, and mission analysis come together to improve decision-making, capability planning, modernization, and operational outcomes.
This is an onsite position based in the Hanscom Air Force Base / Lincoln, Massachusetts area. Due to program timelines and classified work requirements, candidates with current TS/SCI access are strongly preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystems Engineering & Mission Analysis
- Support systems engineering activities for complex defense, enterprise, and systems-of-systems environments
- Analyze mission needs, operational workflows, system constraints, capability gaps, and modernization opportunities
- Help define, evaluate, and document system requirements, mission objectives, interfaces, dependencies, and performance considerations
- Support architecture analysis, capability assessment, system trade studies, and mission-focused decision support
- Work across multidisciplinary teams to connect technical system behavior with mission outcomes
Model-Based Systems Engineering & Digital Engineering
- Apply MBSE and digital engineering concepts to support system architecture, requirements traceability, interface definition, and design analysis
- Develop, review, or maintain system models, architecture artifacts, workflows, diagrams, and engineering documentation
- Support digital engineering integration across software, data, mission, and systems engineering activities
- Help ensure models and architecture artifacts are aligned with customer requirements, mission priorities, and technical implementation needs
- Contribute to model-based approaches that improve clarity, traceability, and decision-making across the system lifecycle
Architecture, Trade Studies & Technical Analysis
- Evaluate alternative architectures, designs, and implementation approaches using qualitative and quantitative methods
- Support trade-space exploration involving performance, resiliency, interoperability, maintainability, risk, usability, and mission impact
- Identify metrics that help measure system properties such as robustness, scalability, resilience, reliability, and operational effectiveness
- Analyze proposed system changes, modernization options, integration impacts, and verification approaches
- Support technical recommendations through clear documentation, analysis, and stakeholder communication
Requirements, Interfaces & Verification Support
- Support requirements development, requirements management, requirements traceability, and change management activities
- Assist with interface management across systems, applications, data sources, mission workflows, and technical teams
- Help evaluate verification, validation, test, and acceptance approaches for modeled or delivered capabilities
- Collaborate with software engineers, data teams, systems engineers, analysts, and Government stakeholders to clarify expected behavior and resolve gaps
- Support multiple workstreams across Government-sponsored projects in small to mid-sized team environments
Technical Collaboration & Growth
- Work closely with technical leads, program managers, Government customers, and engineering teams
- Learn and apply new tools, modeling techniques, analysis approaches, and customer-specific methods
- Contribute to technical documentation, briefings, architecture reviews, model reviews, demonstrations, and customer discussions
- Support a collaborative engineering culture focused on practical mission impact, technical excellence, and continuous learning
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Current TS/SCI strongly preferred
- Active Top Secret clearance required at minimum; candidates must be clearly eligible for SCI access
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical field
- Approximately 2–10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, mission engineering, MBSE, digital engineering, modeling and simulation, software engineering, data analysis, architecture, or related technical work
- Familiarity with MBSE, digital engineering, systems architecture, mission engineering, or systems-of-systems concepts
- Experience or academic exposure with tools, methods, or approaches used to analyze complex technical systems
- Familiarity with programming or analytical languages such as Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
- Experience with statistical analysis, modeling, simulation, data analysis, or quantitative technical evaluation
- Ability to support requirements management, interface management, architecture documentation, or technical change analysis
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
- Interest in complex, multidisciplinary national defense problems
- Ability to learn new tools, technical domains, and Government customer environments quickly
- Ability and willingness to work onsite at Hanscom Air Force Base / Lincoln, MA
Preferred Experience
- Current TS/SCI access
- Experience supporting Air Force, DoD, aerospace, national security, or mission-focused technology programs
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or similar MBSE / architecture tools
- Experience with SysML, UML, requirements models, activity diagrams, state diagrams, interface models, or architecture views
- Experience with digital engineering integration through professional work, internship, research, or academic projects
- Experience with modeling and simulation at the physics, engineering, mission, operational, or socio-technical level
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, R, SQL, data analytics, machine learning, or AI-enabled analysis methods
- Experience supporting capability analysis, mission analysis, trade studies, verification and validation, test planning, or system performance evaluation
- Experience working with Agile, Jira, Confluence, Git, or collaborative technical delivery environments
Additional Beneficial Experience
- Advanced degree in a related technical field
- Familiarity with data analytics, machine learning, decision-support tools, or AI-enabled systems
- Experience supporting cloud-enabled systems, enterprise data environments, digital thread concepts, or model/data integration
- Experience with requirements traceability, interface control documentation, architecture change management, or technical configuration management

Work Environment
This role requires regular onsite work at or near Hanscom Air Force Base. Limited remote flexibility may be available based on program needs, customer requirements, classification level, and workstream.
Because this work supports classified mission environments, candidates with current TS/SCI access will be prioritized. Candidates with active Top Secret clearance may be considered where SCI eligibility is clear and timing supports program needs.
