Full Job Description

Job Overview:

Furbaby Medical is seeking a compassionate and motivated Exotic Animal Veterinarian to join our growing veterinary team. This position offers the opportunity to help develop and expand exotic animal services within a modern, privately owned practice focused on high-quality medicine, client education, and collaborative patient care.

The ideal candidate is passionate about exotic animal medicine and comfortable working with a variety of species, including reptiles, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other small mammals. This role combines preventative care, diagnostics, medicine, surgery, and client communication in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian looking to help build and shape an exotic medicine program within a growing practice committed to compassionate, progressive veterinary care.

Responsibilities:

Perform wellness, sick, and follow-up examinations for exotic companion animals
Diagnose and treat a wide range of exotic species, including reptiles, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other non-traditional pets
Develop diagnostic and treatment plans based on patient history, clinical findings, and diagnostic testing
Perform and interpret laboratory diagnostics and imaging
Safely restrain and handle exotic species while maintaining patient and staff safety
Perform medical procedures using proper aseptic and patient care techniques
Educate clients on husbandry, nutrition, preventative care, environmental setup, and long-term health management
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Collaborate closely with the veterinary and support staff to provide high-quality patient care
Assist in developing protocols and workflows related to exotic animal medicine

Qualifications & Skills

DVM or VMD degree required
Massachusetts veterinary license
Experience or strong interest in exotic animal medicine preferred
Strong understanding of exotic animal physiology, anatomy, husbandry, and preventative care
Experience with exotic animal diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient handling
Strong communication and client education skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Interest in helping grow and expand exotic medicine services within the practice
