Position Summary
Sherle Wagner International is seeking an experienced, hands-on Quality Assurance and Shipping & Receiving Manager to oversee product quality and the accurate flow of materials and finished goods throughout our manufacturing operation.
This position is responsible for maintaining Sherle Wagner’s exceptional standards of craftsmanship while managing incoming inspection, in-process and final inspection, nonconforming materials, receiving, inventory transactions, packaging, shipping, and carrier coordination.
The ideal candidate has experience in luxury manufacturing, decorative plumbing, architectural hardware, metal finishing, or another environment where product appearance, dimensional accuracy, careful handling, and on-time delivery are critical.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Assurance
· Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, inspection standards, control plans, checklists, and work instructions.
· Ensure products meet Sherle Wagner’s specifications for craftsmanship, dimensions, fit, function, finish, color, texture, and overall appearance.
· Manage incoming, in-process, and final inspections for raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished products.
· Establish clear acceptance criteria for castings, machined components, plated finishes, patinas, lacquered surfaces, assemblies, and decorative materials.
· Verify that finished products match approved drawings, samples, purchase orders, bills of materials, customer requirements, and finish standards.
· Maintain approved finish samples and establish appropriate lighting and inspection methods for evaluating appearance.
· Identify, document, segregate, and control nonconforming materials and products.
· Lead material review and disposition activities, including rework, repair, return-to-vendor, use-as-is approval, and scrap decisions.
· Issue and manage nonconformance reports and corrective and preventive actions.
· Investigate internal defects, customer complaints, returns, shipping damage, and supplier quality issues.
· Conduct root-cause analysis and work with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and suppliers to implement sustainable corrective actions.
· Monitor first-pass yield, rework, scrap, supplier defects, customer returns, and cost-of-poor-quality trends.
· Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with approved procedures and workmanship standards.
· Support new product development through drawing reviews, prototype inspections, first-article inspections, and production-readiness evaluations.
· Train employees on inspection requirements, defect identification, product handling, and quality expectations.
· Promote a quality-at-the-source culture throughout the organization.
Shipping and Receiving
· Direct daily receiving, material verification, order staging, packaging, shipping, and inventory movement activities.
· Ensure incoming materials are verified against purchase orders, packing slips, quantities, part numbers, and specifications.
· Coordinate receiving inspections and prevent unapproved materials from entering production or inventory.
· Ensure receiving and shipping transactions are entered accurately and promptly in the company’s ERP system.
· Manage outbound shipments for customer orders, samples, repairs, supplier processing, and intercompany transfers.
· Verify each shipment against the sales order, pick list, packing slip, finish requirement, quantity, and delivery instructions.
· Establish packaging standards that protect high-value decorative products and delicate finishes from scratches, moisture, impact, and transit damage.
· Ensure products are properly cleaned, wrapped, labeled, documented, and packaged before shipment.
· Coordinate domestic and international shipments with freight carriers, parcel services, customs brokers, and internal departments.
· Prepare bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other required shipping documentation.
· Manage freight claims and investigate shortages, shipping errors, and transit damage.
· Monitor carrier performance, shipping costs, expedited freight, and on-time shipment performance.
· Maintain organized and secure receiving, inspection, staging, quarantine, and shipping areas.
· Ensure returned products are received, documented, evaluated, and routed to the appropriate department.
· Support physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory-accuracy improvement activities.
Leadership and Cross-Functional Coordination
· Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate Quality Assurance, Shipping, and Receiving team members.
· Establish daily priorities and balance staffing based on production and customer-shipping requirements.
· Coordinate closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, and Inventory Control.
· Participate in production meetings, new-product-launch reviews, supplier evaluations, and operational-improvement projects.
· Communicate potential quality or delivery risks to leadership before they affect customers.
· Develop team members through coaching, cross-training, and clear performance expectations.
· Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional work environment.
· Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable shipping, handling, and workplace regulations.
· Support Lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
· Associate degree in Quality, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
· Five or more years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or supply chain.
· At least two years of supervisory or management experience.
· Experience in a high-quality or high-mix manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of incoming, in-process, and final inspection methods.
· Experience managing nonconforming materials, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
· Ability to read engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and purchase orders.
· Experience using measurement and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and finish samples.
· Experience with ERP or inventory-management systems.
· Knowledge of packaging, freight, parcel shipping, bills of lading, and receiving procedures.
· Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, made-to-order manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business applications.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with luxury decorative plumbing, architectural hardware, metalworking, casting, machining, polishing, plating, patina, lacquer, or assembly.
· Knowledge of ISO 9001 principles or another formal quality-management system.
· ASQ certification, Lean Six Sigma certification, or equivalent quality training.
· Experience conducting first-article inspections and supplier-quality audits.
· Familiarity with domestic and international shipping documentation and customs requirements.
· Experience working with NetSuite or a comparable manufacturing ERP system.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work in manufacturing, inspection, warehouse, and shipping environments.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Ability to bend, reach, and safely lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
· Ability to visually evaluate small details, surface finishes, colors, textures, and cosmetic defects.
· Ability to use computers, inspection instruments, scanners, and material-handling equipment.
· Ability to operate or become certified to operate applicable warehouse equipment.
