Job Title: Logistics Consultant

Engagement Type: Temporary Consulting Engagement (Leave-of-Absence Coverage)

Term: Approximately three (3) months, with the option to extend

Summary:

John Matouk & Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Logistics Consultant to provide interim coverage of the Logistics function during a planned leave of absence. This is a temporary consulting engagement of approximately three (3) months, with the option to extend based on business needs. The Consultant will step into an established operation and assume responsibility for the day-to-day execution of logistics and purchasing activities, ensuring continuity of operations and minimizing disruption to the business.

The Consultant will coordinate global transportation activities, including shipment scheduling, freight tracking, carrier communication, customs coordination, and issue resolution. Working closely with freight forwarders, carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, the Consultant will monitor shipments, manage delivery timelines, and address transportation exceptions to support business requirements.

The Consultant will maintain existing logistics processes and reporting, provide visibility into shipment status and logistics costs, and support ongoing operational improvement efforts where appropriate. This role will serve as a key point of contact for logistics-related matters and ensure accurate communication across Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, and Customer Service teams.

In addition, the Consultant will manage purchasing activities for a select group of manufacturing supplies, monitor inventory levels, reconcile in-transit inventory, and support the accurate receipt of inbound shipments. The successful candidate will maintain thorough documentation of ongoing activities and provide a seamless handoff at the conclusion of the assignment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate day-to-day transportation activities to ensure timely shipment of goods across global markets.
Manage daily global logistics operations, including shipment tracking, issue resolution, and communication with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
Maintain continuity of active logistics shipments and initiatives ensuring status updates are accurate and current.
Act as the primary point of contact between freight forwarders and internal partners such as Demand Planning, Manufacturing, Fulfillment, Finance, and Customer Service.
Create, enter, and manage purchase orders for assigned raw materials, components, and factory supplies.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels for raw materials, components, and factory supplies; escalate shortages or discrepancies as needed.
Manage and reconcile “In Transit” inventory utilizing internal reports and ERP system to ensure all items were received. Ensure accurate inventory status across all ERP locations.
Utilize ERP and other systems to generate packing lists and other pertinent information to support receiving of shipments.
Review incoming containers upon receipt to confirm accuracy against shipment documentation and resolve any discrepancies.
Support resolution of shipment delays, customs issues, and delivery exceptions in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Maintain logistics tracking systems and ensure data accuracy across shipping, inventory, and procurement records.
Maintain and create logistics documents as required such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs related documents for international shipments.
Assist with documentation and handoff of ongoing logistics activities at the end of the assignment.

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain, or relevant field.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Proven ability to step into an established operation, ramp up quickly, and operate independently with minimal onboarding.
In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry.
Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software.

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
