Full Job Description

Description

Special Collections and the Children’s Literature Festival is looking for an inventive, artistic and computer-savvy student who will create and assemble materials for special collections displays and assist with preparation for the festival in early March. Must be available during Saturday through Wednesday of Spring Break week. When applying for this position please include in your cover letter: hours of availability and anticipated graduation date.

Examples of Duties

Duties include: assisting in finding books, creating signage, and putting up displays
Assisting in Special Collections projects such as digitization and inventory
Creating promotional material such as flyers and buttons
Proofreading materials
Prepping materials and spaces for the Children's Literature Festival

Typical Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

Customer service experience required. Previous library experience preferred, but not required.
Special skills required: Attention to detail is essential along with the ability to proofread (detect errors in spelling, grammar, formatting, etc.); and good keyboarding skills.
Requires strong computer background; ability to find library materials on the shelves; to work well with others; reliability; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical abilities: lift up to 40 lbs. and be able to move book carts up to 50 lbs.

Supplemental Information

Working Hours and Days:

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and must be available during the first weekend of Spring Break and through to Wednesday

Special Instructions:

Full-time staff & 12-month faculty benefits-eligible position: Benefits include competitive salary; health, dental, vision, life insurance, AD & D, long-term disability; 3 weeks paid vacation per year; 3 weeks of accrued sick leave per year; 13 paid holidays; retirement; and generous education assistance for an employee, spouse and dependent children taking classes at UCM.

9-month faculty benefits-eligible position: Benefits include competitive salary; health, dental, vision, life insurance, AD & D, long-term disability; 3 weeks of accrued sick leave per year; 13 paid holidays; retirement; and generous education assistance for an employee, spouse and dependent children taking classes at UCM.

Part-time benefits-eligible positions: Benefits include generous education assistance for the employee.

Temporary, adjunct, student employment, or graduate assistant positions: Benefits are not included.
