Server / Bartender Job Overview:
Server / Bartenders are responsible for and available to professionally serve both food and beverages to our table guests as well as prepping behind the bar. They also tend to the needs of our guests in our lounge, banquet or offsite catering events. Additionally, Server/Bartenders contribute to the overall safety and security of the hotel by reporting damage, following safety rules and assisting in emergency situations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with brand programs and hotel standards.
Demonstrates an expert knowledge of our food and beverage menus, products and promotions.
Respond promptly to requests from guests in a polite and professional fashion and manage the guest experience by:
Providing recommendations and suggestions to guests for food and beverages.
Delivering items as needed in a timely manner.
Accurately serve guests within appropriate timeframes
Remove glassware and plates as needed.
Follow-up regularly as appropriate.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment, replenishing supplies as needed.
Order and restock inventory as needed.
Accurately record sales in a computerized point of sale system and collect payment for services and accurately handle transactions.
Check Identification of all guests to verify they are of legal drinking age.
Attempt to limit problems related to guests excessive drinking by following established procedures and abiding by all state and local laws and health codes, refusing service as appropriate for underage and intoxicated guests.
Complete shift and closing checklist items per requirements.
Maintain security of cash drawer and credit cards per company handling procedures.
Qualifications:
Must have a professional, warm, and approachable disposition.
General understanding of the operation of restaurant/lounge outlets.
Fluently read, write, and speak English.
Hold and maintain any required food handling permit or license.
Hold and maintain any required alcohol awareness training/serving certification permit or license.
Demonstrated ability to remain level-headed in hectic and tense situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No Supervisory responsibilities required for this job.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a hotel banquet space and or bar/lounge. Occasional exposure to heat and humidity in the back of house areas. Various odors related to food product, cooking, and cleaning chemicals may be present. Colored lights, loud music, and smoke machines may be used during some events or band/DJ performances. This role routinely uses a computerized Point of Sale system and telephone.

Frequent physical movement within all areas of the hotel. Occasionally position oneself to stock supplies and attend to equipment located in upper and lower cabinets and storage rooms. Occasionally move or transport supplies or packages up to 50 lbs. Maintain a stationary position for extended periods of time at assigned workstation. Ability to stand for long periods.
Mental Demands:

Must have mathematical ability and mental alertness. Ability to manage stress during hectic and tense situations.
Required Education & Experience:
Ability to complete required alcohol awareness and server certifications.
