Full Job Description

Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: In person — Warwick, RI

Palmer Industries, a leader in custom metal furniture for the architectural, designer, and hospitality markets, is seeking an organized, hands-on Facilities Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day upkeep of our building, grounds, and shop equipment.

This is a mixed role — part hands-on maintenance, part vendor coordination, part project tracking — with the opportunity to support our production team when facilities work is caught up. We are a close-knit team that takes pride in our craftsmanship and our facility, and we are looking for someone who will take the same pride in keeping it running smoothly.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable with the basics of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, knows how to use a multimeter, and has sound judgment about what they can safely handle in-house versus what should be outsourced. Most specialized work is currently handled by outside contractors and will continue to be — we are looking for an in-house resource who can own the recurring work, manage the contractors, and keep everything tracked and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities — Facilities (Primary)

Handle in-house facility tasks within your skill set: minor plumbing fixes, light electrical work, lighting, door and lock issues, small repairs, and general upkeep.
Coordinate outside contractors for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other specialized work — schedule visits, oversee work on site, and confirm completion.
Own the recurring preventive maintenance schedule for building systems and shop equipment.
Track projects, repairs, vendor visits, and maintenance activity electronically — in a computer system, not on paper.
Walk the facility regularly to identify issues before they become problems.
Maintain grounds, parking areas, exterior, and general property upkeep, or coordinate it.
Order and manage facility-related supplies and materials.
Identify safety hazards and address them or escalate appropriately.
Communicate facility status, project progress, and upcoming needs clearly to leadership.

Key Responsibilities — Production Support (Secondary)

When facilities work is caught up, support the production team with assembly of tubular metal products, supports, shelving, and related architectural metalwork.
Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and accurately.
Read a tape measure accurately and work from basic prints, work orders, and BOMs.
Assist with staging, packing, kitting, and shipping during busy periods.

Requirements

3+ years of facilities, building maintenance, property maintenance, or hands-on mechanical experience.
Mechanically inclined with practical working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC basics — comfortable using a multimeter, understanding gas and fluid systems, and diagnosing common building issues.
Sound judgment on what to handle in-house versus what to outsource.
Comfortable managing outside vendors and contractors.
Computer-literate — must be comfortable tracking projects, PMs, and repairs electronically. This is not a paper-and-clipboard role.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
Ability to read basic prints, work orders, and BOMs.
Must be able to lift and push up to 50 pounds regularly.
Must be able to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in various positions throughout the shift.
Willingness to work occasional overtime or weekends for urgent facility issues.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior facilities experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Trade school training, apprenticeship background, or hands-on experience in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.
Experience with compressed air systems, dust collection, or shop equipment maintenance.
Experience coordinating outside contractors and managing vendor relationships.
Forklift or lift-truck experience.
Welding or basic fabrication experience.
Proficiency with Windows, Excel, and CMMS or similar software for tracking maintenance activity.

Compensation

Pay is $26.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on experience. Candidates with facilities coordination, building maintenance, property management maintenance, or skilled trades backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
