Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician at Bridgemark plays an essential role in supporting the recovery, safety, and overall well-being of adult male clients with substance use disorders in a residential treatment setting. This position includes client supervision, admissions support, documentation, medication administration, toxicology screening, transportation coordination, office administration, use of electronic health records, and regular communication with clinical and program staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Contribute to the admission process by assisting with scheduling, conducting new client admissions, completing required intake paperwork, and leading orientation groups to help clients adjust to the program.

Maintain awareness of client whereabouts at all times, ensuring client safety, monitoring the residential environment, and responding appropriately to client needs or concerns.

Document client activity, incidents, shift updates, medication-related information, urine screens, breathalyzer results, continuity of care notes, and other required information accurately and promptly in the electronic health record system and/or other required logs.

Use electronic health record systems and other workplace technology to complete documentation, communicate with staff, access client information as appropriate, upload or scan documents, and maintain accurate records.

Communicate effectively with clinical staff, nursing staff, program leadership, and other team members regarding client progress, concerns, incidents, behavioral changes, and other relevant updates.

Participate in shift turnovers to ensure clear communication and continuity of care between staff members.

Conduct urine drug screens and breathalyzer screenings according to program protocol, while following health, safety, confidentiality, and documentation requirements.

Administer medications as prescribed and directed, strictly following all medication administration protocols, documentation requirements, and safety procedures.

De-escalate situations involving clients who may be upset, in crisis, experiencing conflict, attempting to leave against staff advice, or displaying behavioral concerns.

Interact respectfully and professionally with clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries, reinforcing program expectations, and using sound judgment when addressing client behavior.

Monitor facility safety, report maintenance concerns, help maintain clean and well-supplied work areas, and support a safe and structured residential environment.

Handle office and administrative duties such as answering phones, transferring calls, copying, faxing, scanning, uploading documents, filing paperwork, using email, and assisting with general program needs.

Coordinate or provide client transportation as needed for medical appointments, pharmacy visits, community resources, and other approved program-related activities.

Prepare written reports, status updates, incident reports, and other documentation as required for internal use or external systems.

Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, supervision, and ongoing education to support professional development and quality client care.

Maintain client confidentiality and comply with all company policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Maintain a professional demeanor and serve as a positive role model for residents.

Demonstrate commitment to upholding Bridgemark’s values, mission, and principles.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; certification, coursework, or associate’s degree in behavioral health, human services, addiction studies, or a related field preferred.

Experience or strong interest in working with adults with substance use disorders in a residential treatment setting.

Familiarity with the operations of a residential substance use treatment program preferred, or equivalent understanding through education, training, or lived/professional experience.

Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred, or willingness to complete required training.

Strong communication, observation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain client confidentiality and treat all clients with dignity, respect, empathy, and professionalism.

Ability to remain calm, effective, and professional in high-stress situations.

Demonstrated organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral concerns.

Comfort using everyday workplace technology, including electronic health records, email, typing, documents, spreadsheets, scanning/uploading documents, and general office equipment.

Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
