Full Job Description

Watkins Government Services (Watkins), a woman-owned federal consulting firm specializing in financial management, audit support, grants management, data analytics, and business process improvement, is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst / Project Lead for an anticipated federal engagement.

We are looking for a seasoned federal financial management professional who brings a strong combination of hands-on financial expertise, project leadership, and data analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading day-to-day project activities while also working directly with financial data, client stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day project activities, workstreams, schedules, deliverables, risks, and priorities
Provide hands-on financial analysis and subject matter expertise in support of federal financial management operations
Lead and coordinate activities across financial management, process improvement, and data analytics workstreams
Analyze financial reporting, reconciliations, budget execution, trends, and other financial data
Review project deliverables for quality, accuracy, and completeness
Identify financial, operational, and project risks and support corrective actions
Coordinate with government stakeholders, project leadership, and technical teams
Support improvements to financial processes, reporting, controls, and data-driven decision-making
Develop clear reports, recommendations, and briefings for leadership

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Federal security clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
8+ years of federal financial management experience
Demonstrated experience leading projects, task areas, teams, or major workstreams in a federal environment
Strong experience with financial analysis, reporting, reconciliations, budget execution, and federal financial operations
Experience using data and analytical tools to support financial reporting, analysis, or decision-making
Strong client-facing, written, verbal, and leadership skills

Required Certifications

Candidates must currently possess:

SQL Certification
Data Analytics Certification

Preferred Experience

Federal consulting experience
Experience supporting federal CFO, Comptroller, budget, accounting, or financial management organizations
DoD or other large federal agency financial management experience
Federal financial systems or ERP experience
Internal controls, audit readiness, remediation, or financial process improvement
Data visualization, dashboarding, and financial data analytics
PMP or other project/program management certification

About the Opportunity
