Senior Accountant - Washington, DC

Beacon Hill is seeking a Senior Accountant for a nonprofit organization in the Washington, DC area. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close. Prior nonprofit experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

Manage month-end and year-end close activities
Prepare and post journal entries
Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain and analyze the general ledger
Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules
Assist with annual audit preparation and external auditor requests
Support budget preparation and financial analysis
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Collaborate with internal teams on financial reporting and process improvements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior nonprofit accounting experience preferred
Experience working within ERP/accounting systems
Experience with payroll and HRIS systems is a plus
Strong Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
