Job Overview
As a Superintendent specializing in Bridges, Concrete & Structures, you will take the lead in overseeing heavy civil construction projects from inception to completion. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality and safety while adhering to project timelines and budgets. You will collaborate closely with various teams to drive project success and foster a culture of excellence on-site.

What you’ll do

Supervise and manage all phases of construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
Utilize construction management software such as HCSS HeavyJob for effective project tracking.
Oversee budgeting processes, ensuring that projects remain within financial constraints while maintaining quality control throughout.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and contracts to ensure accurate execution of project plans.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Implement quality control measures to uphold construction standards and address any issues proactively.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, safety practices, and adherence to project specifications.
Prepare detailed reports on project status, including construction estimating and scheduling updates.

Qualifications

Proven experience in construction management with a focus on bridges, concrete, and structures.
Strong supervising experience with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Familiarity with heavy equipment operations and concrete work techniques.
Knowledge of quality control protocols and best practices in construction.
Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, equipment, materials, and safety standards.
Proven ability to lead and motivate teams of field workers and subcontractors.
Strong understanding of construction schedules, cost tracking, and quality control processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.
Proficiency in HCSS HeavyJob and MS Office Suite.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites across Maryland.
OSHA 30-hour certification is required; OSHA 40-hour certification and First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
Valid MTBMA issued Temporary Traffic Manager Card and Erosion & Sediment Control card (preferred)
