Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Driller to join our team. As a Driller, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment and machinery to dig and build various structures. This position requires strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work in the Utility Industry.
Responsibilities:
- Operates equipments safely and effciently to enusre locates are correct
- Communicate problems to the attention of the Foreman, Supervisor, Safety Coordinator, or HR.
- Follow daily procedures and protocols set forth in job orientations and trainings.
- Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on drilling machinery, and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations when operating equipment.
- Ability to operate Ditch Witch and Vermeer horintal direction drills
- Ability to operate digitrack locating systems- F-2, F-5 and F-5 Flacon
- Ability to operate Hydraulic Hoe pack, Upright compactor, Air compressors, etc.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of drilling operations
- Assists laborers with hand digging and potholing when needed
Qualifications:
- Operators must have good eyesight and better than average coordination to operate both hand and foot levers simultaneously.
- Must have good judgement to perform complicated tasks and must be able to work closely with other crafts without constant supervision.
- 2+ years’ experience operating equipment in the underground utility field.
- 2 + year’s industry experience (i.e., underground utility construction)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Class A CDL Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
Skills:
- Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Heavy equipment operation: Proficiency in operating various types of heavy machinery.
- Digging: Experience in using drilling equipment to dig holes for various purposes
- Horizontal drilling: Familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques used in pipeline installations
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work from construction specifications or blueprints.
Working Conditions / Enviroment:
This position operates in a field enviroment. The role routinely rquires the ability to work in a cariety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and kneeling.
This position is labor intensive, with lifting required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/ or rainy spring, summer, and fall weather.
Assume responsibility for work outcomes and results of other workers. May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated. When working onsite, will be required to wear common protective safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and safety vest.
