About Global Ties U.S. 

Global Ties U.S. is the national leader for connecting people and communities in the United States with global leaders through international exchange programs. Since 1961, we have powered a community-based network of 80+ nonprofit organizations that serve all 50 U.S. states and implement the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and a wide variety of other international exchange and public diplomacy programs. Our work advances U.S. strategic priorities abroad and boosts prosperity at home by harnessing the diplomatic potential of our country’s greatest asset: our people.  

About the Role

The Associate for Membership Communications supports the organization’s work with the nationwide Global Ties Network. This position engages on member services and capacity-building priorities, data management, and internal and external communications that support and showcase the impact of the Global Ties Network.

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of related professional experience in a nonprofit organization or association. They should possess excellent written communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills; sound judgement; and the ability to multitask across a range of activities and initiatives.

This position reports to the Associate Director for Strategic Communications, in close coordination with the Membership team.

Essential Functions / Duties 

Assist with regular communications with member organizations, including drafting and packaging content for emails; monitoring shared inboxes and responding to inquiries; and tracking and informing the team of Network updates and developments.
Assist with drafting, packaging, and updating content for the Global Ties U.S. website and for the internal Member Portal for the Global Ties Network.
Track and maintain membership data in Salesforce and the online membership directory.
Support core member services including new member onboarding; quarterly member conference calls; virtual and in-person training events; as well as professional development opportunities for the Network.
Support core member communications activities, including quarterly Working Group and monthly Cohort meetings, and updating core communications resources including fact sheets, one-pagers, graphics, and toolkits.
Assist with planning and implementation of the Global Ties U.S. National Meeting, the signature annual event convening the nationwide Global Ties Network.
Support annual Global Ties Network member reporting, as well as member dues collection and licensing arrangements.
Assist with the annual preparation of program proposals and funder reports.
Support other communications and program activities for the Network, as requested.

Qualifications / Experience 

Degree in related field (e.g. communications, marketing, international affairs / education, nonprofit management) highly preferred
2 years of relevant professional experience desired
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Suite and other computer applications; familiarity with Salesforce; experience with learning management platforms and software (such as Bridge LMS / Articulate 360) desirable
Experience drafting correspondence, content for email communications, websites, and social media
Experience managing data, supporting data collection processes, and providing data analysis
Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet tight and shifting deadlines
Commitment to collaboration, teamwork, and follow-through
Must be a self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude and a strong sense of curiosity and initiative
Customer service experience is a plus
