Freelance Seamstress / Pattern Maker (Women's Wear – DMV Area)
ZOPHIA is a womenswear brand relaunching with a focus on refined, modern workwear and a signature skirt product designed for professional women.
We are currently seeking a freelance seamstress, sample maker, or technical pattern maker in the DC / Maryland / Virginia area to assist with the development of a premium skirt for an upcoming summer launch.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical sewing skills and experience in womenswear construction, tailoring, fit development, and pattern creation.
Responsibilities
- Develop or modify garment patterns from sketches, references, or existing garments
- Create prototype and sample skirts
- Assist with fit adjustments and garment refinement
- Support small-batch production if launch moves forward
Ideal Experience
- Womenswear construction and garment finishing
- Pattern drafting and/or pattern development
- Tailoring or structured garment experience
- Experience working with stretch suiting or knit fabrics
- Sample making or production sewing
- Understanding of fit, grading, and garment construction
- Industrial sewing machine experience preferred

- Looking to begin immediately
- Prototype development must be completed by June 13, 2026
- Preference for local applicants available for fittings and in-person collaboration

The initial launch centers around a structured pull-on pencil/workwear skirt with clean lines, premium finishing, and a modern tailored fit.

DMV area preferred (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia)
Compensation
Freelance / project-based compensation based on experience and scope of work.
