Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Residential Sales Lead is responsible for the overall success of Made in the Shade's residential sales division. In addition to managing their own portfolio of clients and sales opportunities, this individual provides day-to-day leadership, coordination, and coaching for the Residential Sales and Design Consultants. In addition to hourly salary, this position receives commission on every deal closed. Commission is unlimited.

The Residential Sales Lead ensures the team consistently delivers an exceptional customer experience while achieving sales goals, maintaining operational excellence, and supporting company growth. This role serves as the primary liaison between the sales team, operations, and installation teams to ensure every project moves smoothly from consultation through final installation.

This is a working leadership position. The Residential Sales Lead is expected to lead by example through personal sales production while developing the performance of the entire residential sales team.

Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management

Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to all Residential Sales and Design Consultants.
Coordinate consultant schedules, territories, and lead assignments.
Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions and ride-alongs as needed.
Monitor consultant performance and provide ongoing training and mentorship.
Ensure consistent sales processes and customer experience across the team.
Review proposals for accuracy, pricing, and profitability.
Assist with resolving customer concerns before they escalate.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and positive sales culture.
Recommend improvements to sales processes, tools, and training.
Partner with the CEO on hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations for the residential sales team.

Sales & Client Consultations

Conduct in-home consultations with homeowners.
Assess each client's needs, lifestyle, budget, and design preferences.
Recommend window treatment solutions that improve beauty, privacy, energy efficiency, child safety, and functionality.
Present samples and product options including:
Roller shades
Solar shades
Roman shades
Woven woods
Plantation shutters
Draperies
Motorized window treatments
Exterior shades
Prepare and present quotations using company pricing tools.
Close sales while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
Follow up with undecided prospects.

Decision-Making Authority

Assign and redistribute residential leads.
Prioritize consultant schedules.
Coordinate installation priorities with Operations.
Approve standard discounts within company guidelines.
Recommend hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and additional training.
Recommend process improvements to increase sales and customer satisfaction.

Design Consultation

Help clients coordinate colors, textures, fabrics, and materials.
Stay current on design trends and new product offerings.
Recommend solutions that complement each home's architecture and décor.
Educate customers on motorization, smart-home integration, UV protection, and energy efficiency.

Measurement & Documentation

Perform accurate field measurements.
Verify installation conditions.
Document special installation requirements.
Ensure orders are complete and accurate before submission.

Project Coordination

Submit complete order packages to Operations.
Assist with resolving customer questions throughout the project.
Ensure every customer receives an exceptional experience from consultation through installation.
Coordinate project handoffs from sales to operations.
Work closely with the Operations Manager to prioritize installations.
Serve as the primary sales liaison for the installation team.
Coordinate with installers regarding site conditions, special requests, and customer expectations.
Ensure installers have complete and accurate job information before each installation.
Assist in resolving field issues that arise during installation.
Conduct post-installation follow-up with customers when necessary.

Customer Experience

Deliver a luxury, white-glove experience.
Build long-term relationships that generate repeat business.
Request online reviews after successful installations.
Generate referrals from satisfied customers.
Maintain excellent communication before, during, and after installation.

Business Development

Participate in local networking events.
Represent Made in the Shade at home shows and community events.
Develop relationships with:
Realtors
Interior designers
Builders
Remodelers
Senior living communities
Aging-in-place professionals
Maintain an active pipeline of referrals and repeat clients.

Performance Expectations

The Residential Sales Lead will consistently:

Respond to new leads promptly.
Maintain a high consultation-to-sale conversion rate.
Meet monthly sales goals.
Maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
Accurately complete all documentation.
Promote the Made in the Shade brand professionally.

Qualifications

Preferred:

3+ years of consultative sales experience

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
