Full Job Description

About

The Fordy Group have been retained on a search for a Vice President of Business Development for a top ranked GC in the W/WWTP market sector.

Role Overview

Leads the identification, development, and pursuit of strategic opportunities in the water/wastewater sector, with a focus on securing major alternative delivery projects. This role is market-facing and responsible for building relationships, positioning the company, and driving project awards.

Critical Experience

Minimum 20 years of experience, including at least 10 years in business development within water/wastewater construction industry.
Proven success winning large alternative delivery projects (CMAR, Design-Build, Progressive DB), particularly with public owners where experience, relationships, and key personnel qualifications drive selection.
Engineering background preferred, with the ability to engage on high level technical, commercial, and delivery aspects.
Experience with a construction company preferred (engineering firm background also considered).
Established national network of client relationships preferred, or strong presence in the Southwest and East Coast markets.
Strong relationships with engineering firms, with demonstrated ability to build proposals that meet their requirements or expectations.
Demonstrated ability to shape opportunities early, lead pursuits, and consistently secure awards.

Profile Requirements

Strong personal credibility based on a proven background of large project awards
Rigorous and disciplined in screening the market for opportunities and maintaining consistent follow-up throughout the pursuit lifecycle.
Recognized industry presence with solid client relationships and references.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with credibility in client meetings, interviews, and executive discussions.
Deep understanding of public procurement, alternative delivery models, and positioning strategies.
Strategic and results-driven, with a clear focus on pipeline quality, conversion, and sustainable growth.

Core Role

Identify and qualify strategic opportunities, applying rigorous market screening.
Lead client engagement and relationship management, including coordination with engineering firms and potential JV partners.
Drive pursuits, supporting teaming strategy, proposals, and interviews.
Play a key role in securing major project awards and expanding market presence through a structured and consistent follow-up approach.
