Regional School Unit 57Title: Bus/Van MonitorQualifications: Ability to work with othersAbility to assume responsibility for supervising studentsAbility to read and write, to understand verbal instructions, and to communicate with fellow employees, students, and Director of TransportationAttend driver training days and mandatory inservicemeetingsReports to: Director of TransportationJob Goal: 1. To assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for students by maintaining order on a school busor van by directly supporting individual children as neededPerformance Responsibilities: Assists the driver in maintaining appropriate student conduct on the bus or vanAssists young or disabled students with getting on and off the bus or van; operates chair lift; assists students in crossing streets; assist with seat belts and harnesses where appropriateAssures that students get on and off the bus or van in an orderly fashionAssists driver with disciplinary problemsPerform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assignedPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, climb stairs, lift (ranging from 25-75 lbs depending on student size), bend, pull, push, walk, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical tasks that may be required from time to time.Terms of Employment: Hourly, work year round and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57School Board.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Boards policy on evaluation.Note: The above job description reflects the general requirements necessary to describe the principle functions or responsibilities of the job identified and shall not be interpreted as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job, either at present or in the future.
