Full Job Description

Lyman Products Corporation is a leader in the exciting and growing shooting sports industry. The successful candidate will have the technical ability to bring products from ideation through to commercialization and/or manufacturing. Instead of being a specialist in any single engineering discipline, you have broad technical aptitudes and interests. You like to have a hands-on role in an open culture of collaboration, and you thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.

Essential Functions

Collaborate with Marketing to conduct research and create design proposals for projects

Create concepts, performance, and production criteria.

Design, build, and test prototypes.

Provide product cost estimates.
Evaluate design alternatives based on cost, quality and production feasibility.

Work with Global Suppliers to optimize and document designs for production. Conduct design reviews with the Manufacturing, Finance, Sales and Marketing.

Conduct design reviews with the Manufacturing, Finance, Sales and Marketing.

Create BOM’s and routings in ERP System.

Provide manufacturing and production support for new products and continuous improvement of existing products.
Interact with manufacturing, quality, and line personnel to implement new designs into production.

Must be able to interact with internal and external customers for conceptual ideas.
Must have design experience designing parts for CNC, injection modeling and castings.

Preferred Qualifications

B.S. or higher in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years of experience on a product engineering team, with a focus on quality, reliability, and commercialization.

Proven experience in precision manufacturing and design for manufacture.
Project management experience,

Expediting the rapid and timely approval of all ECO’s.

Knowledge and experience with supplier management.
Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), project and time management skills.

Microsoft Office and 3D CAD modeling experience required; SolidWorks preferred.
Some Travel required to production facilities to evaluate processes.
Firearm and Accessory experience along with a knowledge of the shooting sports industry strongly preferred.

Working conditions

This position does require Safety Glasses for personal protective equipment. MUST CHECK AND USE POSTED PPE FOR SPECIFIC TASK – POSTED IN JOB AREA

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Days and hours of work week are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Physical requirements

Sitting, standing, walking, bending, speaking, hearing, good eyesight, manual dexterity (especially computer keyboard manipulation), lifting up to 50 pounds.
