About the Role
Jaypro Sports is seeking an Electrical Drafter. The Electrical Drafter is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, and related technical documentation used in the design and manufacturing of electrical systems and equipment. This role works closely with Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Production, and Manufacturing to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and comply with company and industry standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using CAD software.
- Create and revise electrical documentation based on engineering specifications and design changes.
- Develop bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical assemblies.
- Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation within the company's document control system.
- Collaborate with engineers to translate design concepts into manufacturable drawings.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and company drafting standards.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability before release.
- Assist Manufacturing and Production with interpreting electrical drawings and resolving documentation issues.
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by updating affected drawings and documentation.
- Coordinate with Purchasing regarding electrical components and part specifications when needed.
- Assist with prototype builds and documentation updates resulting from testing.
- Maintain organized electronic records of drawings and revisions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve drafting efficiency and document quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience creating electrical drawings in a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred.
- Experience with industrial controls, electrical panels, or equipment manufacturing is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications.
- Familiarity with electrical components including:
- PLCs
- Relays
- Contactors
- Terminal blocks
- Sensors
- Motors
- Power distribution components
- Understanding of electrical drafting standards and symbols.
- Knowledge of NEC and other applicable electrical standards is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- May occasionally visit manufacturing areas requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Working Conditions
- Office environment with regular interaction in a manufacturing facility.
- Occasional exposure to production environments, noise, and moving equipment.
- Standard business hours with occasional overtime as project demands require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems such as Infor CSI/Syteline.
- Experience designing or documenting industrial control panels.
- Familiarity with UL 508A standards.
- Experience with ECN/ECO processes and document control systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and lean principles.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,400.00 per year
