Overview
We are seeking experienced Inspectors to support fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment projects. These roles involve a combination of field engineering (staking) and construction inspection, ensuring fiber installations meet design specifications and quality standards. Work is performed primarily in the field using tablet-based tools and GPS systems.

Key Responsibilities

Perform field engineering (staking) and construction inspection activities with minimal supervision
Conduct on-site observation and inspection of fiber optic cable placement and acceptance testing
Ensure construction activities meet project specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements
Interpret engineering designs and resolve field conflicts in real time
Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and client representatives to maintain project progress
Document field activity using tablets, GPS units, and mapping tools (ArcGIS Online / Field Maps)
Capture accurate GPS data and supporting documentation for all installed units
Review completed installations for quality, workmanship, and compliance with standards
Provide technical support during construction and assist with issue resolution
Maintain accurate daily reports, timesheets, mileage, and expense documentation
Support collaboration between field teams and project leadership (Resident Engineer role)
All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years of experience in fiber construction, utilities, telecommunications, or related field
Direct experience with FTTH engineering or construction projects
Familiarity with ArcGIS Online or similar mapping tools
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering maps and project designs
Proficiency with mobile technology (tablets, GPS devices, laptops)
Valid driver’s license in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

Technical training or coursework in a related field
Experience with Field Maps or similar field data collection tools
Prior experience in construction inspection or resident engineering

Work Environment / Additional Information

Field-based role with approximately 95% travel
Work follows construction schedules (typical shift: 7 AM – 7 PM, overtime expected)
Candidates may be required to stay near project sites for extended periods (2–3 weeks at a time)
Work includes outdoor conditions in varying weather and terrain
Requires physical activity including walking up to 3 miles per day and lifting up to 50 lbs
