Overview:
Allen College is accepting applications for a full-time Community Outreach Coordinator that is funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Grant Program and will assume the role as soon as possible. This role is responsible to the Dean of Enrollment Management for developing new and expanding existing rural partnerships and community engagements; and expanding and enhancing rural student support services to increase rural student enrollment, retention, and completion. With a focus on expanding enrollment of rural students, this position maintains informative communications with internal and external constituents; develops and expands on- and off-campus programs and activities offered at targeted locations such as nursing and health sciences career clubs, informational seminars, and job shadowing experiences; addresses the needs of rural students; and collaborates with the admissions counselors to coordinate recruitments efforts maintaining a strong communication stream for prospective students through admission.
In compliance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security Report (ASR) containing three previous years of crime statistics, institutional policies concerning campus safety, and a fire safety report. Responsibilities:
- Coordinates on- and off-campus programs and activities to engage rural communities (for example: service-learning opportunities).

Develops new and expands existing relationships with schools (secondary and post-secondary), school nurses, organizations, healthcare employers and community members in rural areas to support rural students’ college success.

Engages with local community members, organizations, student support systems, healthcare organizations, other employers and religious leaders to promote the importance for members of the community to pursue higher education.

Identifies high school students enrolled in STEM courses.

Cultivates relationships with prospective rural students from the targeted area and counsels them on admission requirements and processes.
- Develops and manages health career clubs in targeted rural high schools.

Develops on- and off-campus programming and informational seminars to include how to apply to college, how to take pre-admissions tests, how to schedule job shadows, personalized plans of study, and other relevant college and workforce information as it pertains to the student success program.

Coordinates with financial aid to educate families on how to finance college, including filling out the FAFSA and investigating scholarships.
- Assists rural students on their academic performance, financial status, access to technology and resources and overall acclimation to their healthcare education program, including developing and maintaining a rural peer mentor program.

Uses established partnerships with nearby colleges to ensure a smooth transition of rural students to Allen College.

Tracks and collects data for the rural student success program.

Prepares reports as needed.

Coordinates with the student success and engagement office to provide support and guidance to current Allen College students from rural high schools.

Creates and manages rural student success program webpage or other sources that provide information about this program.

Coordinates communication plans with prospective students from rural communities.

Develops policies and procedures related to the rural outreach program.

Collaborates with the admissions counselors to coordinate recruitment efforts.
- Assists with Student Ambassadors.

Acts as student advocate.

Continues professional growth, including but not limited to recruitment and admissions areas.
- Assists with official College functions and activities including but not limited to; graduation events, visit days, orientation and other special events.
- Serves on College and Health System committees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, or related field, from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Prefer two or more years’ experience in higher education with an emphasis in student recruitment, admissions, public relations, marketing or a related field.

Prefer experience with professional collaborations.
- Familiarity with rural populations.
- Ability to prioritize work and function under specific instructions within a structured time frame in a variety of job situations.

Good communication skills and the ability to interact with others.
