Full Job Description

Are you a hands-on engineering professional with a strong background in foundry processes, robotics, and shop-floor manufacturing? Do you excel at collaborating with cross-functional teams, driving process design improvements, and executing engineering projects in an active factory environment? As Cerebral Staffing, we are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer - Foundry to join our team supporting our client, John Deere, at the Waterloo Works Foundry in Waterloo, IA. Manufacturing Engineer - Foundry – John Deere (Waterloo, IA)

This is an outstanding, highly stable 2+ year contract opportunity paying up to $44/hr, including 2 weeks of PTO. Operating 100% onsite on off-shifts (2nd Shift 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM OR 3rd Shift 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM), you will plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing engineering projects across the foundry within the Order Fulfillment Process (OFP).

Position Details & Compensation

Pay Rate: Up to $44/hr (W2).
Location: 100% Onsite at Waterloo Works Foundry (Waterloo, IA). Regional candidates located in the Midwest are strongly preferred.
Duration: 2+ Years (Providing excellent multi-year contract stability).
Shift & Hours: Off-shift role (2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM or 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM depending on production volume; minimal overtime). Please state shift preference on resume.
Benefits: 2 Weeks PTO, Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, and Referral Bonuses.
Dress Code & Gear: Business casual. Metatarsal safety boots strictly required on Day 1.
Onsite Mobility & Physical Requirements: Spend ~75% of your shift on your feet on the shop floor; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Post-safety training, may drive an indoor factory Gator to transport tools/parts and occasionally drive personal vehicle to local Deere facilities within a 20-mile radius.
Interview Process: Conducted via Microsoft Teams.
Visa Sponsorship: Not available now or in the near future for this position.

Core Responsibilities

Project Execution & Management: Plan, coordinate, and perform manufacturing engineering projects across the foundry to support the Order Fulfillment Process (OFP).
Shop-Floor Presence: Spend approximately 75% of your shift on the foundry shop floor, collaborating closely with operators, supervisors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Process Optimization & Problem Solving: Apply technical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot foundry processes, eliminate operational inefficiencies, and drive safety and quality standards.
Technical Documentation: Utilize MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to track project progress, compile technical data, and present project status reports.

Required Skills & Experience

Foundry/Process Engineering: 1+ years of foundry or process engineering experience (recent graduates must have at least one internship in a manufacturing environment).
Education Baseline: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Technology, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Project Management & Collaboration: Proven ability to manage engineering projects and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Software Literacy: Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

What Makes You Stand Out

Hands-on FANUC robotics programming and troubleshooting experience (highly preferred).
Experience with SAP, MES, Creo, or AutoCAD.
Manufacturing line/process design experience or controls engineering and safety system design background.
