Lake Country Classical Academy is an independent public charter school and is honored to be the first Hillsdale College Member School in Wisconsin. The Hillsdale K-12 curriculum provides the architecture for LCCAs academic program that emphasizes a foundation in liberal and civic education and the core disciplines of math, science, history, and language arts, including phonics and writing, with attention to music, art, and foreign language. Hillsdale College assists LCCA in creating and implementing challenging, engaging academic programs, and providing ongoing teacher training.
Elementary Instructional Interventionist
Our teachers challenge students to excel in learning and character development through interactive, teacher-led instruction. They are committed to learning, demonstrating, and implementing our unique classical curriculum and instructional methods to maximize educational achievement for all students.
This is a full-time position with a 10-month work schedule.
Specific Responsibilities
- Demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to classical education and the vision, mission, and philosophy of the school, and consistently developing, fostering, and advancing these concepts in students.
- Demonstrating understanding and mastery of central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the discipline(s) taught, and effectively transmitting this knowledge to students, and making the subject matter meaningful to students.
- Engaging students in small group or individual learning experiences that promote performance and intellectual and moral development.
- Listening and interacting effectively with students, parents, colleagues, leadership, and community members, respecting diverse perspectives.
- Developing and implementing a strategic planning and data collection system, modifying instructional strategies to maximize achievement.
- Using appropriate technology for record keeping, assessment, and evaluation.
- Providing students and teachers with timely data for improvement in student achievement.
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to support instruction and/or planning and preparation.
- Contributing to the supervision of students and overall safety of the school community and environment.
- Developing and maintaining a climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, kindness, support, and inquiry.
- Modeling and reinforcing good judgment, prudence, virtue, self-discipline, and responsibility.
- Seeking and participating in personal professional development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
- Possession of, or current eligibility for and ability to obtain, Wisconsin DPI licensure for teacher and/or reading teacher or reading specialist (316/1316 or 17/5017).
