Job Overview

Join our dynamic team as an Aerial Technician in the telecommunications industry! In this energetic role, you will be instrumental in installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic systems and network infrastructure high above the ground. Your expertise will help ensure reliable communication services for communities and businesses. This position offers a hands-on experience working outdoors, climbing utility poles, operating heavy equipment, and using specialized diagnostic and telecommunications testing tools. Responsibilities

Safely perform telecommunications outside plant operations, including the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables and network infrastructure on aerial structures.
Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, and other construction machinery to facilitate cable installation and repairs.
Climb utility poles using appropriate safety protocols to access work sites at heights, adhering to the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to troubleshoot issues within fiber optic networks and other telecommunication systems.
Conduct telecommunications cable splicing, fiber splicing, and interpret technical drawings or schematics to ensure precise connections.
Install, test, and troubleshoot telecommunication systems including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony, and low-voltage electrical systems.
Maintain detailed records of work performed, interpret technical schematics, and support engineering troubleshooting efforts for fiber optic networks.

Qualifications

Proven outdoor work experience with a focus on telecommunications or construction environments.
Skilled in field service operations with knowledge of fiber optic cables, cabling techniques, and telecommunications network installation.
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely and efficiently.
Familiarity with telecommunication testing equipment, fiber splicing techniques, and interpreting technical drawings or schematics.
Experience with electrical systems, low voltage wiring, computer networking (LAN/WAN), Ethernet connections, and telephony systems is highly preferred.
Strong climbing skills with a focus on safety protocols aligned with NESC standards.
Competent in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, and troubleshooting support for engineering issues.
Construction experience combined with technical proficiency in fiber optics or IT infrastructure is advantageous.
