We are looking for a strong, field-driven Service Manager to lead and grow our residential HVAC service department in Madison, ME.
Compensation Competitive base salary + performance bonus opportunities Target total earnings: $85,000 – $140,000 per year (based on experience and results)
This is an opportunity for a proven Service Manager, Service Lead, Technical Field Representative, or Senior Service Technician with real team oversight experience who is ready to raise the bar on performance, accountability, and customer satisfaction.
Role Overview
As Service Manager, you will serve as a leader, coach, technical authority, and revenue driver for the service department. You will spend meaningful time in the field while also owning the operational and financial results of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and hold service technicians accountable for performance and customer satisfaction goals
- Conduct ride-along, field evaluations, and technical training
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new technicians
- Run daily/weekly meetings and annual performance reviews
- Provide hands-on field support during peak demand periods
- Build and maintain a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability
Operational Oversight
- Oversee scheduling, dispatch coordination, and technician productivity
- Review invoices, job documentation, photos, and reports for accuracy and profitability
- Monitor key metrics including revenue, conversion rates, callbacks, and technician efficiency
- Prepare/review payroll, commissions, and performance incentives
- Assist with inventory and truck stock management in coordination with the warehouse
- Collaborate with the call center and dispatch to maximize opportunity flow
- Assist with price book updates and protect profit margins
Financial & Performance Management
- Help develop annual budgets and manage departmental expenses
- Drive revenue growth through coaching and ethical upselling
- Track and report department performance metrics
- Ensure staffing levels match seasonal demand
Required Qualifications
- Master Oil Burner Technician license (Maine Fuel Board) – Required
- Propane & Natural Gas Technician license (Maine Fuel Board) – Required
- EPA Universal Certification – Required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- 5+ years of hands-on residential HVAC / oil burner / propane service experience
- 2–3+ years in a supervisory, lead technician, or service manager role with direct oversight of technicians and performance metrics
- Strong diagnostic and repair knowledge of residential heating systems, ductwork, and system design
- Experience reviewing job costing, reports, and technician performance metrics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Ability to work occasional weekends when business needs require it
- Willingness to perform local travel and provide field support
Preferred
- Tank Setter endorsement
- Heat pump and geothermal experience
- Experience with service management software (or willingness to learn)

Schedule
Full-time, primarily Monday–Friday, with weekends as needed. Year-round employment.
