The City of Wauchula is seeking a highly organized and dedicated professional to join our team as Deputy City Clerk. Working under the supervision of the City Clerk, this position plays a vital role in supporting the City Clerk’s Office and requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Position Summary:
A position responsible for acting as staff assistant and primary administrative support person for the department, as well as carrying to completion clerical, records, secretarial, and other activities relative to departmental work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned dictated by operational necessity.
· Assist City Clerk with coordinating and arranging various meetings, assist with preparing and distributing agendas, reserve and prepare facilities, record and transcribe minutes of meetings, and attend meetings as necessary.
· Ensure the filing and archiving of ordinances, resolutions, minutes, accounting records, and all other significant records for the City as required by Florida Statue.
· Ensure compliance with the policies and procedures for all tasks and activities related to the City Clerk’s office and the City Manager’s office.
· Assist City Clerk with internal auditing process, and compliance with external auditors’ direction.
· Receives, screens, and routes telephone calls, takes messages, answers routine questions.
· Assists in answering correspondence, at times independently composing responses.
· Arranges and coordinates travel schedules and reservations for City Commissioners.
· Consults and works with the City Clerk, departmental directors, and employees with respect to human resource/personnel management, benefits administration, risk management and safety activities.

· Skill in application of modern secretarial techniques and practices, such as typing, computer (PC) operation, Excel spreadsheet and word-processing.
· Skill in sound principles in human relations.
Education and Experience:
· High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
· Associates degree (A.S., A.A.) in office management or related field; or three to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
· Notary Public License preferred but not required.
· Must be in possession of a valid Florida Driver License or the ability to obtain one.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Position has no direct supervisory authority.

Compensation and Benefits: The starting salary for this position is $20.87. The City of Wauchula offers an excellent benefits package.
