Wanted: Professional Human Sunshine

Sunlight Senior Care | Nebraska & Iowa

Job Title: Caregiver (a.k.a. Professional Snack Fetcher, Story Listener, Sock Finder, and Occasional Dance Partner)

Pay: Competitive. As in, we actually pay you what you're worth — not what we can get away with.

The Gig:

You know that person in every friend group who remembers everyone's birthday, always checks in, and somehow makes people feel better just by walking into a room? That's who we're hiring.

We need caregivers who can walk into a client's home and make Tuesday feel less like Tuesday. You'll help seniors stay independent in their own homes — the place where their favorite recliner lives, where the thermostat is set to a toasty 78°, and where the cat judges everyone equally.

What You'll Actually Do:

Help with the stuff that gets harder as we age but nobody wants to admit — bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and companionship. Yes, companionship is a real job duty. You will be paid to care about someone. Wild concept.

You Might Be Our Person If:

You've ever been told "you're too nice" like it's a character flaw. You can hold a conversation about the Korean War, Wheel of Fortune strategy, and why the neighbor's dog won't stop barking — all in one visit. You don't check your phone every four minutes. You understand that "I'm fine" from an 84-year-old usually means "I don't want to be a burden" and you know what to do with that.

Minimum Requirements:

A pulse, a valid driver's license, a car that starts reliably (even in a Nebraska January or an Iowa February — you know the ones), and a background that comes back clean. CNA or HHA certification is a plus but not required — we'll train the right human.

Disqualifiers:

You think "old people smell weird." You view this as a pit stop before your "real career." You ghost. On anyone. Ever.
