Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and fully bilingual Immigration Paralegal to join our litigation-driven, multi-practice law firm. Our office handles immigration, family, and criminal matters, including cases that may involve overlapping legal issues across more than one area of law. This position will focus primarily on immigration matters — including humanitarian, family-based, and removal-defense cases — but the ideal candidate must also be comfortable assisting with certain family-law-related cases, particularly Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) matters that arise through our family law and juvenile court practice. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, able to manage multiple moving parts, and committed to maintaining a high standard of work and professionalism.

About Our Firm

Our firm is a litigation-driven office with a practice focused on immigration, family, and criminal law. Many of our cases involve overlapping legal issues across more than one area of law, requiring our team to think strategically and understand how one proceeding can directly affect another — including how a criminal disposition or a state court order can shape a client's eligibility for immigration relief. We take pride in providing representation that is thorough, deliberate, and prepared for the realities of contested litigation, including removal proceedings before the immigration court. Our team is committed to high-quality work, strong advocacy, and protecting our clients' interests in complex matters that often demand attention on multiple fronts at once.

Responsibilities

Assist attorneys with immigration matters, including adjustment of status, family-based petitions, naturalization, asylum, withholding of removal, and Convention Against Torture claims, VAWA self-petitions, U visa and T visa cases, SIJS petitions, waivers (I-601, I-601A, I-212), cancellation of removal, and removal defense before the immigration court
Prepare and assemble USCIS and EOIR forms, applications, petitions, supporting declarations, evidence packets, and filing cover letters
Prepare and organize master calendar, individual (merits) hearing, and filing materials for immigration court
Maintain case files, track filing deadlines, biometrics appointments, RFE/NOID response dates, work-authorization renewal windows, and master and individual hearing dates, and ensure documents are filed and served in a timely manner
Communicate with clients regarding case status, document requests, appointments, court and interview dates, and case preparation
Coordinate with attorneys regarding scheduling, case developments, and follow-up tasks
Assist with assembling exhibit and country-conditions packets, organizing identity, civil, and supporting records, and indexing evidence for filing
Prepare and submit FOIA requests and assist in obtaining and reviewing A-files and government records
Prepare draft correspondence and communicate professionally with clients, USCIS, the immigration court (EOIR), consulates and the National Visa Center, opposing or government counsel, and third parties
Support attorneys with SIJS-related matters and the family-law and juvenile court casework connected to immigration relief
Assist in preparing SIJS petitions, supporting documents, and the underlying juvenile or state court predicate findings and orders
Help gather background documents, client records, juvenile and state court materials, criminal dispositions, and country-conditions and supporting evidence as needed
Maintain accurate case notes and assist in keeping administrative and case management systems up to date
Perform other paralegal and case-support tasks necessary to move files forward efficiently and effectively

Qualifications

Prior paralegal experience in immigration required
Experience with family law matters is preferred, particularly SIJS-related work, but not required
Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
Familiarity with USCIS forms and filing procedures and with EOIR/immigration court practice
Strong drafting, organizational, and file management skills
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a professional and efficient manner
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients
Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work in a fast-moving office environment
Familiarity with court and agency filings, scheduling, and litigation support
