Position Summary

Carolina Charcuterie & Catering is looking for a reliable, experienced kitchen team member who is comfortable handling prep work, line cooking, and production for a busy gourmet deli and catering operation. This role supports daily food preparation, menu execution, catering orders, and overall kitchen flow. The right candidate will bring strong food-handling habits, solid knife skills, a calm approach during busy periods, and pride in preparing food that is consistent, fresh, and well presented.

This is a hands-on culinary position for someone who enjoys variety, works well with a team, and understands the pace and standards of a professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients and components for deli menu items, catering orders, and daily production needs.
Portion, assemble, cook, and plate food according to established recipes, presentation standards, and quality expectations.
Assist with prep lists, ingredient rotation, and kitchen readiness for daily service and upcoming catering events.
Support catering and special-order production while helping the team meet pickup, delivery, and event deadlines.
Follow proper food safety, sanitation, labeling, storage, and handling procedures at all times.
Keep prep areas, cooking stations, equipment, and storage spaces clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift.
Communicate with kitchen teammates to coordinate priorities, manage timing, and keep production moving efficiently.
Contribute ideas when appropriate for improving workflow, consistency, menu preparation, and overall kitchen operations.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of food preparation experience preferred.
At least 5 years of cooking experience preferred.
Experience in restaurants, catering, prepared foods, deli kitchens, institutional kitchens, or similar food-service environments preferred.
Strong working knowledge of food prep, cooking methods, safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen organization.
Knife skills and the ability to prepare food neatly, consistently, and efficiently.
Ability to stand for extended periods, work at a steady pace, lift items safely, and remain focused under pressure.
Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
ServSafe certification preferred.
Associate degree preferred.
