Full Job Description

Work Status: Full-time | 40 Hours per Week

Shift Details: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Department: Information Technology

Work Location: On-site only

Job Summary

Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answers questions or resolve computer problems for staff in person, via telephone or from remote locations. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.

Essential Functions

Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or escalate issues. This is done in an efficient manner.
Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
Daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
Regular attendance at the assigned work location is an essential function of the job.
Participates in after-hours/on-call support rotation as needed.

Competencies

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and internet.
Strong organizational skills and able to work independently with little supervision.
General knowledge of computers, software packages, and information technology devices.
Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
Able to read and understand technical manual and procedural documentation.

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s Degree in related field preferred.
Experience:
- Three years’ experience or related training in the use of computing and information technology resources.
