Full Job Description

Sensory Kids & Social Minds, LLC is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a per diem position in our sensory gym/clinic. Hours are negotiable, with availability likely falling within the 8:00/9:00 AM–3:00/4:00 PM range.

At Sensory Kids & Social Minds, our mission is to help children participate in and enjoy the many roles that make up their lives—as loving members of their families, active and confident learners at home and school, comfortable and engaged playmates with peers, increasingly independent individuals in their self-care and motor needs, and creative, productive participants in independent play.

We recognize that every child and family is unique. Treatment should therefore be individualized, collaborative, and responsive to each family’s priorities, resources, and needs. We partner closely with parents and caregivers to support meaningful carryover beyond the clinic, including consultation and coaching for families who want to take an active role in their child’s ongoing development. We also collaborate closely with teachers, schools, and other service providers to promote consistency, generalization, and success across environments.

This is not your typical sensory gym. We take a holistic view of child development, recognizing that communication, sensory processing, relationships, regulation, motor development, play, and social participation are deeply interconnected. Our clinical approach is grounded in three complementary areas: sensory-integrative approaches, relationship-based therapies, and the development of social cognition, supporting children in navigating both their social and sensory worlds.

Our therapists are approachable, progressive, collaborative, and committed to lifelong learning, with training and certification in some of the most innovative and evidence-informed approaches available. We value clinicians who are curious, reflective, flexible, and excited to think beyond traditional models of therapy.

The Position

We are looking to expand our team with an SLP who will provide individualized, relationship-based speech and language therapy within our sensory gym/clinic environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and families and is excited by an approach that integrates communication with regulation, sensory needs, play, social connection, and functional participation.

Because our work is holistic, it is also necessarily inter- and transdisciplinary. Our clinic represents a learning community of clinicians who are deeply committed to our clients as well as to our shared professional development. SLPs work collaboratively with occupational therapists and other professionals, while also partnering with families, teachers, and community providers to create cohesive, functional treatment plans.

We are looking for therapists who are eager to learn experientially in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, contribute ideas, receive and provide thoughtful feedback, and grow alongside a team of clinicians who genuinely enjoy what they do.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements

Master’s or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or eligibility to obtain certification.
Valid and current New Jersey SLP professional license and eligibility for applicable New Jersey Department of Education certification.
Ability to learn and appropriately implement the clinic’s policies, procedures, and clinical practices within the first three months of employment.
Strong foundational knowledge of pediatric speech, language, communication, and developmental disorders, with the ability to apply clinical knowledge within a holistic, interdisciplinary model of care.
Strong professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write comprehensive clinical evaluations and treatment documentation and communicate effectively with families, colleagues, educators, and other professionals.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, as well as with parents, caregivers, teachers, administrators, and community providers, in a manner that reflects our commitment to family-centered and holistic care.
Ability to interact effectively, respectfully, and compassionately with individuals and families from diverse cultural, ethnic, social, and religious backgrounds.
Ability to work independently, critically analyze clinical situations, appropriately seek assistance, problem-solve effectively, exercise sound professional and ethical judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate discretion at all times.
Commitment to ongoing professional development, including identifying learning opportunities, seeking mentorship, accepting constructive feedback, and setting meaningful goals for continued clinical growth.
Strong interest in pediatric practice and willingness to engage in relationship-based, sensory-informed, play-based, and socially oriented approaches to intervention.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic clinical environment and contribute positively to a collaborative learning community of clinicians.
