Full Job Description

Job Summary

Pisgah Bakehouse is a bakery/cafe specializing in organic brick oven breads/pastries, wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. We are a scratch bakery, using organic flours, and sourcing other ingredients from local and organic suppliers. We are looking for an experienced baker who has knowledge of baking naturally leavened breads. Pisgah Bakehouse is in the historic western North Carolina town of Brevard. We are also very close to amazing outdoor recreation opportunities in the mountains including mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, cycling, and trail running.

Responsibilities and Duties

-Working a 8' by 6' brick oven to bake all the days hearth breads. This includes cleaning and prepping the oven for baking. Proofing all of the breads to the point when they are ready for the oven. Loading and unloading the oven using wooden peels.

-Baking all the days breakfast pastry including Danish, croissant, bagels, and scones.

-This position requires working some shifts that start at 2 am, and some that start at 5 am. These will all be baking shifts. Some shifts will be working the brick oven, and some shifts will be baking pastry in the convection oven.

Qualifications and Skills

Baking experience is required. Also preferably some experience working with naturally leavened breads and laminated pastry doughs. Willing to train a person with baking experience who is eager to learn and interested in advancing their career by working with a brick oven and naturally leavened breads.

Compensation

$22-$28/hour which includes tip share

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
