Job Summary

Our kitchen manager is leaving for the West Coast! We are a local, independently owned and run modern diner in West Asheville. We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team and oversee daily kitchen operations. This role is vital in ensuring exceptional food quality, maintaining high standards of food safety, and delivering outstanding customer service. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for managing staff, controlling inventory, and ensuring the smooth functioning of all kitchen activities. The Kitchen Manager will work closely with the owners day-to-day. This is a great opportunity to work directly with restaurant professionals that have opened and operate multiple independent restaurants.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate all kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating team members to foster a motivated and efficient workforce
Oversee food preparation processes to ensure quality, consistency, and presentation meet company standards
Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste through effective food management practices
Maintain strict adherence to food safety protocols and sanitation standards to ensure compliance with health regulations
Lead shift management by organizing daily tasks, scheduling staff shifts, and ensuring timely service during peak hours
Skills
Extensive experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations within casual dining or quick service environments
Proven management skills with a background in supervising hospitality teams and managing restaurant or food service operations
Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, food costing
Excellent communication skills for managerial responsibilities such as interviewing, team leadership, and managerial communication
Familiarity with food safety standards, food handling procedures, and health regulations in the hospitality industry
Experience with budgeting, profit & loss analysis, and cost control strategies to maximize restaurant profitability
Demonstrated leadership in training & development initiatives to improve team skills and operational efficiency
Knowledge of catering, banquet services, or hotel food operations is a plus; experience in managing hospitality teams is highly valued
