Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Staff Attorney to join our Legal Department. The Staff Attorney will provide legal counsel and strategic guidance on a broad range of matters affecting the organization, including litigation management, regulatory compliance, contract review, corporate governance, employment matters, and operational risk. This individual will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to protect the company's interests while supporting its business objectives.

Responsibilities

Provide timely legal advice and guidance to internal departments on a variety of legal and business matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal documents.
Manage litigation matters by partnering with outside counsel, monitoring case strategy, reviewing pleadings, and evaluating legal risk.
Advise management on legal, regulatory, and compliance issues impacting the organization.
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, opinions, and recommendations using legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
Assist with the development, implementation, and review of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Support regulatory examinations, audits, and responses to governmental inquiries.
Identify potential legal risks and develop practical solutions to minimize exposure while supporting business objectives.
Collaborate with business leaders and internal stakeholders to provide proactive legal guidance on operational initiatives and strategic projects.
Stay informed of legislative and regulatory developments affecting the organization and communicate relevant updates to management.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law and membership in at least one state bar in good standing.
Minimum of three (3) years of legal experience, preferably in an in-house legal department, insurance, financial services, or a regulated industry.
Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, litigation management, and regulatory compliance.
Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex legal documents.
Experience managing outside counsel and multiple legal matters simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
The person must be licensed in state of Texas and member of Texas state bar
